Hey All. I'm currently in the process of building my new pc.
One of the last things I'll buy will be the monitor.
I'm looking to get a 22" or 24" lcd & since I know 2/3's of bugger all about the tech side of them & given the fact that I'm too much of a lazy shite to do some research:p , I was hoping people here would have some recomendations.:)
I'm mainly concerned with games looking good, everything else is secondary.
I await your responses all.:D

Check out (
http://www.viewsonic.com/products/lcddisplays/) ViewSonic. The Pro series is very nice but expensive. They have 2ms response time (3ms for the 26"). The X series is more affordable but still has 2ms response time and a beautiful display. I use a VX922 standard format & I love it. Dark blacks, no glare issues (even in direct sunlight) and visible from a wide angle. I've used ViewSonics for years and have been very happy with their service as well.

The best bang for buck to quality ratio budget panels available in NZ are definitely the Samsung Syncmaster line. ~$430-450 will buy you a 22" 226BW or the newer model 2232BW. They all have inferior TN panels, thus fewer colours (and inferior viewing angles), so they're not the best for film viewing or photo-editing work.

But TN panels excel at gaming, offering high response times.
Personally, I have a 226BW and run my PC (via DVI) and 360 (via VGA) off of it, it looks pretty great after being calibrated properly.
Really, Dell make the best monitors available in the country, watch out for the periodical deals on their 24" screens.

Seconded on the Samsung advice.
