[SOLVED] "Restoring" Accingite Vos as the credits song in the English version of TMA - by Petike the Taffer

Personally, I don't like the fact that the TMA credits are completely silent, at least in the English language version.
I also don't understand why
(https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CyN1sMgqXrk) Accingite Vos (by Subway to Sally) is only used in (
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qVawf1l5zc0) the credits of the German localisation of TMA. My personal bet is that there were simply licensing problems when LGS wanted to include the song in all or most language releases of TMA. Hence, only the band's native German market got permission to use the song in-game, as the credits song. But I'd love to hear from other taffers whether that was the case or not.
Now, onto my main question:
Would there be any home-brewn (and legal) way to include the song in the credits of one's English-language TMA install ? Purely on a personal use basis, not as some mod for everyone. While I'd love to hear the song whenever I launch the credits from the TMA menu, I'd also dislike to break any copyright restrictions, if they're still in place.

I'm not sure about the legality of it, but it is definitely possible to simply add the song as an audio track to the credits.

On a technical level, what would it entail ? Do I just pack the track into the second game ? Or ?

Nevermind, I've figured it out on my own. :D
Rather than tampering with files and code, I've decided to simply replace the Credits video. In case anyone else would want to add it to his TMA install, here's what I did: I made a backup of the soundless original, loaded up the vid into Movie Maker, inserted the song as the video's music track (BTW, it fits perfectly length-wise, making it clearly cut from the final release) and then saved the whole vid as an .mp4, size 4:3 (i.e. 640x480). I then used an online video converter to convert it to a high-quality .avi file, pasted the final video into TMA's MOVIES folder, deleted the original video, changed the title of my edited video to fit the original's title (i.e. CREDITS). I turn on TMA, click Credits, and voilá - it's there and it's looking really, really good. :)

now to add it back into the missions... : D shrines should have the chanting (not sure if thats in) and of course in "framed" when you pick up the lockbox

Don't know anything closer about that, outside of the fact that the German localisation did use some StS music in a few of the missions. My own personal goal was to make the credits video fully complete again, nothing more. Hey, if TDP and TDS can have credits background music, why not TMA ? :p ;) That's my only motivation. Besides, as long as I keep this customisation personal and don't distribute my modified file to anyone, keeping it for myself and my install, I think it's all right.
P.S. Gnartsch made (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=141291) an older thread which has more info on the song, including a German and English translation of its Latin lyrics.

Sorry I couldn't reply quick enough. I was going to suggest to do something similar to the procedure you followed anyway. I haven't tried it myself, but as soon as I have time, I will. I figured any video editing software would have the simple utility to add an audio track and Movie Maker is true to that. Yes, regardless if it's technically legal, if you keep it to yourself, you should not run into any problems.

Interesting... I was not aware that it also used music in the missions. I guess I'll have to restore those too!

Shouldn´t it be possible to just replace the credits with the german version of the credits?

Indeed. But I did it the way I did it to avoid potential copyright issues: If I copy the whole video from the German localisation, even when I don't own it, that could be problematic. Just modifying the soundless video to add the track is less questionable territory, especially if it's just for personal use.

right. to clarify: hammerite shrines specifically. (i would have to double check the mechanist ones) have a modified version of the beginning of the track playing. aka the chanting.
and if you pick up the lock box in framed it plays a loop of the wilder parts of the song until you complete the mission.
i could provide the original mission files and samples if anyone's interested as well as a full version of the track itself (the version that plays during the credits)
