No, Steam is
one of the shops, no such requirement.
Thanks. I made my pledge. I hope you'll succeed.

Well, yes. You're basically asking for the funds to pay a single programmer for 1-2 months. I can see why people might not think you could do much on that budget.
I'm sincerely asking how to convince people that the whole team, including myself, are perfectly happy for work for royalties. The money will go for those who doesn't prefer to work for royalties, like animators or voice actors, what's so difficult to understand about that really? :confused:Which has been mentioned all over the videos and updates. For instance, we're very very to lucky have our programmer Iman on board, who has been working for the last 8 months happily for royalties and he is even better than people I paid to code in the past.

If it's feasible & hasn't been mentioned before, have you thought about releasing an SDK for fans to make fan missions? I think it'd be popular around here, since we had a SS2 FM scene that's never yet been matched by anything more recent, and this would fit right in. Just an idea
.
I'd be very very happy to release a sdk, but those are not easy stuff as it used to be. We'd need full source code to the engine and cover the "extra distribution fees" of some our licensed models like bought from Turbosquid. Hence that's one of the stretch goals. Really a sdk would be very fun to release especially to the hands of ttlg, it would help the shelf-life and just plain fun to see what
people around here can do. I wish it was as simple as swapping the editor.

if I understand correctly, the game is basically done, all it needs is some polish and professional voice acting and it can go gold. if this is the case, you need to convey that clearly.
Flux on 12/7/2014 at 20:02
In a way yes. All it needs professional "testing" as well, which sometimes cost money or time or both. Also polishing animations can be tricky, sometimes a whole lot feasible to do from scratch, hence money needed.
At the same time, there are still some tasks like adding localization support, coding steam achievements, fixing AI and level design bugs, re-do some of the mission scripting, adjust the hud better etc...ALL of these tasks are being carried on by members who already agreed to not seek payment until game is released, including any payment or share from Kick Starter.

then my suggestion would be - let everyone know. "hey guys, we just need 10 000 pounds to pay the voice actors and testers, and we are done". the first message/sentence needs to be short and easy to understand. also, get a native speaker for a grammar check, the sentences are constructed in a slightly odd way, that might deter people.
Flux on 12/7/2014 at 20:28
You mean native speaker for which text? All of the texts on KickStarter page has been written by native speakers, checked by pr & marketing folks.
We should perhaps make a funny video about this:p

So we have been getting a lot of feedback to our KickStarter project but question that baffled us is that how low amount we are asking for.
this is the first sentence under updates, and it feels kind of not correct - not a native eng speaker myself, but I can usually see when something is not completely right.
//also, reading through the main page, it takes quite a while to get to the part which explains the game will be about sneaking around and hacking, inspired by Thief and System Shock. this is probably something you'd want in the very first paragraph - that is the part where you need to catch people's attention. the good stuff needs to punch everyone right into the face.

Just saw the kickstarter link the other day on Facebook, congrats for getting it so far! I remember you first coming here not sure where to take the game... glad to hear it all turned out great. Looks promising :)

Can you add more information regarding the stretch goals?
Like, how is the DLC mission supposed to work? Is it an additional quest that will be seamlessly added to the main game or is it a side-story involving a different character and taking place at a different time/place?
And what do you have in mind for "Deep-Space Exploration" and "Extended Quest System"?

I pledged. Gimme a game.
