On a second note, it is really hard to digest this reality. 20 usd is already considered as "too much" for an indie game and this is going to stay...So for future business planning, indie teams should take notice...
Unless, I'm missing something else...
For example when the ball game released, people found the concept as "simple", you just roll a ball around? that's a game? Some reactions were "but it is only 20 usd, so buy it to support indie developers"
((

That was in 2010, now it sounds like "indie games should be priced between 5 or 10usd maximum..." otherwise we won't get a support.

Market saturation tends to drive prices down. The problem is that now people are flooded with games from bundles and big sales events. You can very easily (and cheaply) end up with more games than you will ever play.

Flux I feel ya. In Karaski we had to keep tweaking and dumbing down AI until it now tales a whopping 2 seconds for guards to notice you. It sounds ridiculous but it "plays" better.
I think it's less to do with Thief having bad model as expectations changing over the years. Ppl don't want to dedicate as much time to precise sneakery as they used to. Mainstream Games are much more about accessibility and instant gratification than immersion and dedication, save some really hard core franchise with dedicated following like dark souls.

Level design is an important factor as well in stealth games, I think that this is a thing which is inferior to older games.

Ok so , Solarix is 33% off cheaper now, but don't buy it now, if you haven't already, because my publisher tells me we're gonna have another
better sale in November, yeah fuck capitalism hurrah indie spirit:p

Got it already, but haven't found time to play yet. Too bad GOG rejected it, or I'd probably pick it up on a sale from there, just to have it in the library. :(
Btw, is the Humble Store version just a Steam key or do you also get a DRM free version as a download?
Oh, and the Paypal link on pulsetense.com takes you to a Turkish language Paypal page. Might want to change that to English.

Gog is probably too busy counting money from witcher3. They are eclectic I guess:P
Humble Version, like 99% stores on the planet use steam key only
Strange, the paypal link should default to standard US-English paypal page, I just made "extra" sure it lands there. Can you please check again? If you want to obtain non-drm version by other means, you can pm me. (I didn't understand if you bought it from steam when you say "got it already" and want to have non-drm version as well?) Anyhow, you can pm me about it nonetheless.

Truly agree but here is the problem we had: For instance any of the original Thief levels have much more layers, depth and complexity and multiple paths when you compare to Solarix's chapter 3, just to compare. (Supposedly our "Chapter 3" is a bit "open-world" and have multiple paths)
You wouldn't believe how many of the testers, youtubers and twitch broadcasters got completely lost in that chapter and complained about it.
Just for the sake of experiment, one should port some of the Thief FMs around here and ship it on PS4 and Xbox1, just to see players' reaction about "complexity and getting lost in a level"

Humble Store actually has DRM free downloads for some games. Just wanted to make sure.

Yup, the link leads to the English language page now.
Oh, and I wasn't asking for my sake, I was asking for someone else.
Longer story:
someone asked me if there was a DRM free version and I couldn't find it on my usual go-to places for DRM free games (GOG, Humble), so I ended up giving them (http://www.pulsetense.com/2015/07/solarix-non-drm-version-available-to-purchase-here) this link. To which they said they couldn't understand the language and when I checked the Paypal link, it was in Turkish. So I thought it would be a decent thing to inform you.

Doesn't surprpise me, we had to add maps and quest arrows because people kept getting lost in our much smaller karaski too.
But then I (ab)used the quest arrow in parts of Bioshock when i just wanted to shoot things or move with the story adn couldn't be arsed investigating :p
