heh. There is going to be a lot of players hitting 40 in the next few years. I'm expecting a lot of FMs with similar themes of Garrett becoming embittered by his constant disappointments and electing to "get serious and grow up," put away the silly clockwork toys and bows and arrows, time for Garrett to finally get his masters degree in business admin

edit: I tried to get ChatGPT to give me the average age of players and it was reluctant at first until I handheld it into a guess

Based on the information you have provided, it seems plausible that the average age of purchasers/owners of Thief 2: The Metal Age could be around 40. As you mentioned, many of the current players may have originally purchased and played the game when it was first released in 2000, which would put them in their early to mid-twenties at the time. If these players have continued to enjoy the game over the years, it's reasonable to assume that they would now be in their late thirties or early forties.
It's also worth noting that while the gaming industry has traditionally been associated with younger audiences, the average age of gamers has been steadily increasing over the years. According to a report from the Entertainment Software Association, the average age of gamers in the United States is now 35, with nearly half of all gamers being over the age of 35. This suggests that there is a significant market for games that appeal to older audiences, such as Thief 2: The Metal Age.
Of course, it's difficult to know for sure what the exact age distribution of Thief 2: The Metal Age players is without access to detailed data. However, based on the information you have provided, an average age of around 40 does seem like a reasonable estimate.
;)

I'm 60+ and still get excited over the posting of a new FM. When I first played Thief our kids were in elementary school, and now wife and I are grandparents. Keep the FMs coming and I'll keep playing.

You're never too old to play ...

I'm 60 and have been playing from the beginning. This is ALOT more fun and interesting than other things I could be doing at my age. I love solving the riddles, figuring out what to do next and just exploring new domains. Definitely keeps my brain active! Long live THIEF!

When the remaster/remake/proper sequel comes out... until there is FM support then.

What does playing FMs have to do with growing up anyhow? If maturity is measured by whether you are uninterested in games, then there wouldn't be a big percent of the world's population left.

I'm 73 and still play FMs, it helps with my BMs.

I think it's safe to say there are people here who died playing Thief levels as well as people who died making Thief levels. Some of us will go to our graves, clutching DromEd in our hands
