I've just worked my way through The Wire 1-5 over the past few months and want to add my full support to how awesome it is. Go buy it if you havent already.
Now trying to decide if West Wing is something that will appeal to me bearing in mind I can pick up the whole lot for £50 from HMV right now.

Yes yes, buy the West Wing. Then indulge yourself- you WILL NOT be sorry.
I finished Chuck S2; what an ending! Easily one of my favourite shows. Hopefully they bring it back for a third season...in the mean time I think i'm all TV'd out and I still have Damages 2nd season to get my teeth into. After the 24 Season 7 finale tomorrow night of course. Aha.
Maybe focus on catching up on Movies instead for a bit...

Keep at it Scots, The Wire is 15 (or 16) different types of awesome. Stringer Bell is my favourite bad guy ever (actually it might be Clarence Bodicker, but Stringer is up there).
The last Lost episode was pretty awesome too. A lot wrong with that show (though I can stare at Juliette aaaaall day long) but the final cliffhanger was wft and htf are they going to progress with it.
I've not seen Dollhouse but the idea sounds interesting. All in the execution though so I'll have to get onto that one stat.

I don't know why people mistake my finding a show depressing or particularly emotionally affecting a sign that I'm not liking it or not going to stick with it (that's not directed at you in particular, SE).
One of my favourite shows ever, Six Feet Under, was a depressathon for its five season stretch.
Being :( just means the show is doing its job well. I doubt I'm supposed to be :D at the end of s2.

Unless you're the Greek, of course. :cheeky:
Have you already started season 3 of The Wire, Scots?
Scots Taffer on 18/5/2009 at 09:58
Yep, just had Cole's Wake last night. Quality episode, I get the sense that this season will be tinged with a different kind of tragedy this time around.
Thirith on 18/5/2009 at 10:15
In terms of tragedy, I thought that season 4 was right up there with season 2. Season 3, while tragic, is more absurd (more "WTF?!" than "Oh noes!", so to speak) than immediately depressing, at least in my experience. It becomes tragic once you think about the implications of what you're seeing, mind you.
