Kicked off a couple of episodes of Pushing Daisies Season 2. I believe Emerson Cod is one of the greatest characters ever created. The man makes me laugh alot.
Oh, added Spectacular Spiderman and Batman: Brave&TheBold to my list...great cartoons!

I think cop shows in general aren't my thing...I'm more into stuff like Dexter where there's a bizarre twist or something in the characters that sets it apart from the typical police procedural (though apparently the writing on The Wire is sterling from what everyone says...).
As said, it's no police procedural although the first series fits the bill better than the rest. It ends up as an examination of the problems of America's urban poor from a number of different angles - politics, the education system, the media.
What also sets it apart for me is how little it coddles the audience. It throws you a number of plot strands staffed by a lot of characters, takes risks with the main characters that most shows wouldn't even veer within a mile of, a script that is extremely smart without ever being overwrought, an occasionally (for my limey ears anyway) hard to penetrate regional accent and expects you to deal with the lot. It demands a lot of the viewer, but gives back because, as demagogue said, it's not complexity for its own sake. And with the symbolism and themes explored there's always more to pull from it if you want to.
So, yeah, The Wire is my favourite TV show at present. Only a few episodes to go now though.... I'm getting that horrible empty feeling I usually get near ing the end of a blong book that I've really enjoyed.
Hoping to get Generation Kill (David Simon's new show about the war in Iraq) when I've next got a bit of cash.

It wraps up really well. I miss having new episodes to watch, but you won't feel gypped by the ending.

Also, for Brits that might be interested in The Wire, BBC2 started showing from the beginning it last week (I think). It's on BB2 every weeknight at 11:20.

It does end well but its so sad. Sad that there isn't more. Everything else is just so weak compared to The Wire. And to think after the first 2 episodes I was wondering what the fuss was about.

As if it could get any better. Scott Bakula rocks! Just keeps getting better!

Oh yeah, that one hit me too...
I just finished Season 3. Keeps getting better and better :thumb:
I also got started on Life on Mars (UK), that I got dirt cheap off iTunes. It's a weird one but I like so far. :)

Scots, if you think that episode is heartbreaking, you've got much, much better/worse waiting for you in seasons to come. :)

I'm going to pace myself, after finishing season 1 it is fully my intention to avoid season 2 for a couple of weeks and so on. I don't know how my resolve will hold but we'll see.
