Depends. To what part of my post are you referring? If you're referring the the example part, well, I thought that maybe the post was stickied to tell everyone to stop making rediculous threads like that. If you're referring to existing member's names appearing in the Welcome to our newest member field, I'm completely serious. It's happened at least twice that I remember. I don't recall the first name that I saw, but the second and most recent (a few weeks ago, IIRC) was LesserFollies.

That was due to some difficulties Lesser Follies was having in viewing the forums. Dave was troubleshooting and trying to figure out what the problem actually was -- because it didn't seem to be on our side, but who knows? -- and one of the things he did was try a new account. So it showed up in the New Member field.
The other ones were most likely just quick prank-type jokes, like me registering Strontium Doug in response to similar things that StD asked about. And then Dave registering GingerbreadMan to one-up me. :D
As far as the stickied thread in CommChat goes... well, that's just a mystery.
And there's no "e" in "ridiculous" :grr:

Yeah, I noticed those. Maybe it was one of the pranks I saw and I didn't notice the difference.

Whoops. Sorry. I'm a real stickler about those things myself, so I usually read my posts over befor I submit them, but that post was slightly rushed so I must have accidentally missed it. :erm:
