Oh, Usually patches are homebrew, I don't really know too much about SS2 other then what I downloaded.

.. Patches are homebrew?
Just about every popular PC game gets patched by the company, sometimes multiple times (just look at Blizzard games, they have around ten or more each for ones that have been around long enough). Hell, usually when a patch is unofficial it's explicitly stated as such. It's pretty rare for an official patch for a PC game to never be released.

I think he's mistaking 'patch' for 'mod' somehow.
RiderLeangle on 21/2/2008 at 17:44
Aren't they the same thing? I mean what Patches do is mod the game.
D'Arcy on 21/2/2008 at 17:56
No, they're not. A patch is usually something official, made by the people who also made the game. Mods are normally made by fans.

A friend of mine pirated the game (he received a swift kick in the pants along with a legal copy for his birthday). Apparently, it's messed up in that the multiplayer is disabled and requires config file editing to make work, among other issues.
And whatever gave you the idea that patches are fan-made? Do you really think that the company will make you auto-update with a user-made patch?

Well thats all in the quality of the file rips, I got a good rip of it. It gives me the menu to insert IP, Although I haven't tried that, A: No one to use it with, B: Co-op *yawn*

I'm fairly sure D'arcy has warned you (More than once) with regards to bragging about downloading SS2. The mods here are fairly laid back, but if you keep pushing like this you're going to find yourself out on your ear.
RiderLeangle on 22/2/2008 at 04:17
The fact I downloaded it was already brought up BY them and someone else pointed out and I was just saying I got a better rip.

This just shows how System Shock is NOT a game for you, or your type of gamer. Co-op is the only way MP in a game like System Shock would be interesting. But given the immaturity you've shown so far, I'm not surprised that you have this opinion.
I wish that co-op MP would be somehow possible in S.T.A.L.K.E.R. :(
