So... no World Cup thread yet? (also featuring TTLG fantasy world cup game) - by D'Arcy

fuck
I was digging Pekerman's masterplan ... until he hauled Riquelme off, switched Crespo for Cruz and went for the 1-0.
Does he know nothing of German World Cup history - you can't hang on like that!

Goddamn that was impressive penalty shootout by Germany. Damn. :thumb:
Heh, it seems to be a while I've posted in these forums. I had forgotten my password...

I was rooting for the Argentines on this one. They were playing such great football, and I figured they'd grown up a bit since the previous two world cups.
Turns out I was wrong. :erg:
I really hope Germany don't win the World Cup, if only because I feel it cheapens the competition somewhat when the host nation wins.

That was depressing..if argentina had kept playing normally instead of running down the clock cynically they would probably have held on. The subs were mental too.
If there's one team where you need to twist the knife it's Germany..once it goes to penalties against them you're really up against it.

Victory! Sieg! Victoire!
What a game. I cannot describe my feelings while watching this. After our victory against Argentina the whole Country freaked out. I have never seen this kind of reaction in Germany. Just incredible.
Dainem - one step away from a heart attack
btw: Don´t cry for me, Argentina!! (hehehe...Maradonna knew why he was missing this match.)

Goodbye Argentina. One-man team found out again. Take Riquelme off and the whole house of cards comes crashing down.
As for Italy, it was an absolute given that Luca Toni would start scoring as soon as I removed him from my fantasy football team. I ain't so bothered as I have money on him for the golden boot.
Still, while I'm tipping Italy, I have a funny feeling that England's name is on this one. We shall see...

By which you mean, take Riquelme off along with Crespo, the main goal threat, put on quite possibly the worst player in the squad, not have Messi or Saviola on, don't go for another goal, and the whole house of cards comes crashing down.
Argentina disappearing is a worry for my fantasy team though - we were most definitely built around Riquelme ;)
Also, can't help but notice that the top 4 teams have 2 English players between them
