I can see this turgid French side boring its way to the title now, which is just too horrific to contemplate. Please God let Brazil tear them a new arsehole in the quarters.
Henry dive i'll give ya, but c'mon, overall that was a deserved French victory and a quality match, certainly not turgid..and Spain had nothing in the second half once their younger legs weren't much of an advantage anymore.
Zidane's finish was beautiful. Brilliant technique.
Some really juicy matches coming up..the only disappointment really is that a poor Ukraine side are still in. As long as the germans and english don't win i'll have got everything i want out of this tourny (muppety but hey).

Adam and Joe's amazing "Footy Song".
The rather lively pub I was in to watch (some of) the england sweden match the other week played all sorts of football songs before kickoff, and this included the Adam and Joe one. I never even realised it was released as a single, I thought it was just a pisstake when I saw it on the A+J show.

God how depressing. France gave a masterclass tonight in how to beat a more talented side
Depressing? But Stronts, I thought you really enjoyed this kind of stuff... at least judging from the way you enthusiastically praised the greek victory in the Euro two years ago ;)

I think it was just a pisstake, but at some point they realised it was a catchy pisstake. As far as I know, it was re-done for a planned single release but never actually made it for whatever reason. It's on a few (or maybe just one) compilation album(s) though, somehow.

2nd in the TTLG league? Moi? I guess making it to an internet cafe in Rome to change my team after the last round was worth it
I certainly enjoyed the Italy vs. Australia game because I was watching it in a packed pub in the middle of Rome (noes, ultras!), which just made the last minute penalty all the sweeter :cheeky: (I can't give any particularly good reasons why I don't like Australia anyway, but put it down to the rugby tackles and the inclusion of Moore)
As for Portugal vs. Holland, I missed it, but as a Celtic fan I have to say I got a serious amount of joy out of seeing that Deco got sent off for timewasting. I'm sorry, but Deco is the one player in international football I just can't stand.
Germany vs. the Argies is going to be a tough game for my Argentinian lads, but they are certainly capable - dodgy decisions in the hosts' favour or not. I do wish Argentina had got England, because if there's one thing I haven't seen England do, it's be able to press the opposition when the opposition have the ball - particularly between England's defence and midfield, which is where Riquelme and the like could have a massive influence. Still, Germany's defence isn't a massively strong one, so Argentina can certainly score.
I've still to check who the winners of Germany vs. Argentina play, of course...

Italy or Ukraine
Meaning shades of 1970 or 1990 for Italy, should they get through.

I assure you that I'm innocent of all charges, whatever those charges might be!
You can read it as "flashbacks to" or "uneasy reminiscence" if you prefer?

That particular phrase (above all others) gives me flashbacks to and uneasy reminiscences of football commentary at its worst. I feel like punching the screen when Motson or Tyldesley say it. Seeing as the football's shut up shop for a couple days, I may as well set my stall out concerning this abomination.
On the subject of commentators, I find it no surprise that WorldCup365.com's (
