I agree with your criticisms, but isn't he also your most prolific striker this season? (in terms of "minutes on the pitch -> goals" at least .. not sure about top goal scorer).
Of course, I don't know how many of those goals were in the last few minutes against already beaten opponents and stuff.

What happened to his son (Markus, I think), by the way? He got really badly injured a few months ago and nearly had to have his leg amputated ... haven't heard any news about him after that, I hope he's recovering from the injury.
Markus is actually his brother, as is Mikko, who also played for Cowdenbeath last season while the Finnish league wasn't running. Markus recovered from his injury to help the club win the 3rd division (he's the one in the middle of the picture with the long blonde hair and a yellow wristband) and was voted player of the year shortly afterwards. So yeah, you could say he recovered pretty well :p Mixu is also doing a really great job in his first managerial post and has made some top signings in the last month or so.

he is without a shadow of a doubt the most brainless footballer I have ever seen.
Liverpool seem to attract them. If we're talking brains, he's like El-Hadji Diouf without the spitting.

One could argue that Manchester United have a reasonable claim to that crown, given Rio Ferdinand's missed drugs test and speeding bans, Rooney's brothel visits and George Best drinking himself to death. Or perhaps Chelsea's footballers are the most brainless, given Lampard's holiday orgy, Gudjohnsen's gambling problems, or the quartet of Chelsea players who upset American tourists grieving after the 9/11 disaster by vomiting and urinating in public in front of them.
Or maybe footballers are much of a muchness, and one team's are no more brainless than another team's. I think that's perhaps the conclusion you should have arrived at.
Anyway, onto happier matters, and for anyone who missed Peter Crouch's first international hat-trick today, here are the goals: (

I wasn't insulting Liverpool, just looking for any excuse to get a good kick at Diouf ;)
Saw the first three England goals today, and Crouch did well. No sudden change of opinion from me until he does his job against some bigger World Cup teams, but he did well.

Alas, poor Cisse :(
That's some pretty rotten luck the guy has had now. Domenech hilariously responds to this injury by continuing to ignore Ludovic Giuly and calling up some other dude instead. Strange guy.
Ok ... this is just a shameless bump really - anyone still wanting to join the World Cup Fantasy League of excellence needs to do so in within about the next 20 hours (pm me for the code)!

Well, the first game of World Cup 2006 was a real goalfest! :)
Pure entertainment as one of the weakest sides in the tournament was ripped apart time after time.
Fortunately for Germany, they had enough firepower up front to compensate for their defence being about as mobile as a Panzer tank division.
Roll on Poland-Ecuador!

Germany! Germany! Germany!
What an entertaining game with wonderful goals! Thanks to our defence it was never boring. And I´m looking forward to Wednesday when we will overrun Poland and send them home...
So ein Tag, so wunderschön wie heute...
btw: tomorrow England will play his first game against Paraguay. Good luck to Beckham & Co, so that we will not see us in the round of 16.

http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1373235#post1373235) Poland finished a point behind an England side that produced a number of shaky performances and were comfortably outclassed against England in the two fixtures between the sides. They wouldn't have qualified but for landing in one of the easier groups.
You people need to start listening to me when I lecture you on football GODDAMMIT  you might make yourselves some $$$
That said, even I didn't expect Poland to lose that comprehensively to a team so drab, they named themselves after their location on the globe.

Germany vs. Costa Rica was a nice start, but the Celts failed to deliver for Poland :( I'm not too sure I like this 4-5-1 Poland are meant to be playing - Zurawski doesn't get to play his natural game and the extra man didn't really seem to do anything much against Ecuador.
I'm off to try and figure out how the fantasy football updating's going to work. Boruc wasn't too bad, right? :erm:
