Alright, you've convinced me. I'll ditch the GEP in favor of EMPs, scramblers, and sabot rounds. BTW, for those who use the sawed-off shotgun as opposed to the assault shotgun----why? I know it has more accuracy but the rate of fire is horrible. I guess you're all much sneakier than I am and don't ever face multiple attakers. Actually, I think I'll use both shotguns--assault for humans/animals, sawed-off for bots. How many sabot rounds does it take to eliminate the different sized bots?

Oops--I meant say that sawed-off deals more damage (not accuracy) than the assault shotgun. I wonder which is more accurate? I'll check that tonight.

The assault better be more accurate for realism's sake! At Vandenberg I began the festivities by lurking on roof above main entrance and dropping a scramble grenade on top of a small bot.He entered the glass doors and killed many commandos and grunts.2 scramblers pasted on Comm bunker wall took out one big boy and the friendly biggies killed second large bot when freed.I actually use GEP to rub out cameras when it's hard to get at security panel or sneak by 2 cameras.
I carry:crowbar,prod, stealth pistol,all LAMs,sniper rifle, GEP,spare stealth camo.Never use shotguns or assault rifle, I'm too bad a dodger.Tend to use stealth/hacking.

Wow Gage! That's a great point! I never thought about it (and now I'm pissed).
I always have three weapons in my inventory that I use regularly:
1. Sword (saves ammo and opens crates too!)
2. Sniper Rifle (maxed out and silenced. Takes out security cameras and turrets, opens 50% strength locked doors, cabinets and lockers)
3. Crossbow (yeah, I know. Most people hate this but I love it. It's actually pretty convenient when you know when to use it. The regular (non-tranq) darts are good for taking out underwater baddies).
I use the spy drone so I don't usually need things like the GEP gun. It takes up way too much room and you have to put points into heavy weapons skills to even begin to use it in actual combat). I'll use one to open locked doors, cabinets and lockers (when I don't want to waste sniper bullets) then dump it. I've never once used the plasma gun for anything.

I like the crossbow too. It's the most efficient weapon in the game when it comes to one-shot, silent kills, especially if you've got your pistol skill cranked up to master. Load that puppy up with tranq darts and watch the bad guys fall...
I've never had much use for the flare darts, though.

I can't believe I left the crossbow off my list; it's my best friend! Never thought of offing camers with sniper rifle. Can you actually destroy turrets with it? Didn't think of replacing crowbar w/sword, either; been playing too much HL deathmatch, I guess.
Where can I find the Sword Upgrade?

Rifles is hands down the most versatile weapons skill avaliable. The silenced assault rifle is better than any pistol for medium range silent takedowns, and 2 grenades can take out even the huge MilBots (1 for both other kinds of security bots), and you can get a lot of them by just switching to grenades before picking up assault rifles you find lying around (that way it adds ammo to grenades instead of bullets). The assault shotgun is a deadly close to medium range weapon for when you're not concerned about making some noise, and sabot rounds are great for dealing with spider bots. And the sniper rifle just kicks too much ass not to have, as with master rifles skill, you can use it blow away turrets, lockers and chests, and basically any human enemy with just one shot, though I've known Commandos to sometimes take two headshots.

How can one survive without the crossbow? I choose the crossbow when Paul offers me the three weapons at the start, and it never leaves my side. Until the sniper rifle is found, it is my most used weapon in the game. I've never used any flaredarts, but the normal dart and tranq. dart are very useful.
When I want to use a GEP gun, I just (temporarily) drop my sword and sniper rifle, try to find the gun, shoot, drop that enormous thing and get my sword and rifle back. Otherwise, I find another way around.

How to fit all those great weapons into your inventory? Cheat, of course!

Spoiler:
Try this: pick up a large weapon like the GEP Gun or Flamethrower and go into your inventory. Click and drag the large weapon to the far right side of the screen and hit escape WITHOUT LETTING GO OF THE MOUSE BUTTON. Once outside the inventory screen, release the mouse button and click on another large weapon to pick it up. This will place the second weapon under the weapon you clicked and dragged, essentially making double use of your inventory space!

In all actuality, can you consider this a cheat seeing as how it's more of a bug exploit? In any case, it's really useful :O)

The crossbow is a great weapon, especially for its one-space-in-inventory size. The problem with tranqs is that you have to take into account that the knockout effect isn't immediate (unless you are pistol Master I suppose). Don't use it in a firefight, use it from a concealed position, and make sure that when you shoot the patrolling guard, he'll be knocked out before he reaches the alarm panel. You can get pretty good estimating how long it takes for the drug to take effect against how far an enemy can get in that time.
The crossbow is essential for killing underwater greasels and karkians.
I did use the flare darts a couple of times. Mostly when mucking about in the Hong Kong canals.
