So, I've been working on a little project for a while... - by Brad Schoonmaker

For the last couple months, actually. I hate to bring it up since I don't have a clue about uploading stuff for web viewing, but it's been on my mind to get feedback. So...
Earlier this year I started tinkering with the Construction Set and found it pretty easy to use. My artistic side went nuts on the lastest project. My problem is I need to hear what someone else thinks of it. Someone that actually cares or shares interest in what this game offers. If anyone can set me up on showing even just screenshots I've got of it, I'd appreciate it. I've not used any other plug-ins besides my own to judge quality so it might not meet some's standards. It's in no way complete anyway. Don't know if it will be. Damn, it's addictive adding stuff. Never seem to finalize areas. Until I find a way to show it off, I can't do any more than talk about it. And that's not good enough, is it?

Well first you need to host the picture. Off the top of my head (
www.stranglethecat.com) and (
www.ripway.com) are both good sites for that (free).
Then you get the url, push the little IMG button up the top of the posting screen along with all the other vB code stuff. Then enter the URL into there, the hosting sites should tell you the URL to use.
The most important tip for a good mod is to look at it and ask yourself if it is something you would find in game. Easter eggs are fun but they seriously make it shit because the game designers made the game like the way it is for a reason and your job is to expand on something they might have forgotten not make stupidly powerful items.
And cool scripting is always fun, I love bloodmoon and hate tribunal just for the scripting.

Very nice. What are you going to do with it (eventually)?
It would be good to see a mod which has some complicated intrigue concerning the relations between the great houses. With a different outcome depending on which house you belong to.
You could maybe place it on an island off Vvardenfell (like the Fort Firemoth islands in size)- it could be a settlement which sprang up after a particularly rich and large ebony mine was found, and the three great houses are trying to outdo each other in order to establish control over the resource. Or something. If you had the time, skill and patience, you could make the areas grow in stages, like the strongholds in the main game.

I'm only doing this in my spare time and so just getting this part finished is the focus. Story isn't my strong suit really. There are so many story arcs that can be exploited from the main game's, but I do want to include as much differsity in this mod as I can. That's why I used four different building styles.
As it is, I messed my self up pretty good by going hog wild with them. Now I have to match up interiors to the buildings. The only easy one will be the Redoran style. The mesa is as tall as it is mostly for this section. Love that style's interiors and love the Telvanni exterior style. I wanted the base perimeter to be Imperial since it seems best suited to fortification. The other area is similar to Caldera or Peligrad in look for contrast.
I would like to do some screen captures or movie shots of the Telanni complex. I don't know if it'll work since it's pretty tight in there and I have no idea what program can capture game play into some kind of video file.

Can you post more pics?
I'm making an imperail town myself and I want to see how other modders are doing.
Gracias!

Great! A little like Great Chinese Wall ;). I love the idea. Also wish there was no fog. At all. Inside pics? Please...

No interiors, yet. I started some, but it's tough doing them especially on this scale. No details have been done except for a small Telvanni turret. It was the easiest.
I doubt there's anything I can do with the Imperial interiors that would inspire. They're pretty uninspiring to begin with. My focus with the time I can put into this project is mostly on the Telvanni complex right now. Sorry I can't help more.
I'm getting the idea that this isn't as well thought out as most mods are. No details. No plotlines/scripting. Some day I'll get into all that.
The fog isn't likely a weather effect. I've been having trouble with this vid card a long while. Maybe it hampering the view distance. Or it just might be the weather since it's pretty tall up there.;)
