So I called EA about "disk checks". - by lost_soul

Any illusions I had of Linux users being above the average intelligence of the unwashed paganistic masses of the rest of the internet were shattered the day I first read a lost_soul post.

Who said anything about source code or Linux? Why don't we just bring up the climate on Mars while we're at it?
I'm sure EA keeps clean copies of all their games on their tech support systems/for archival purposes. "Okay sir, you're having problems with NFL2015? Let me just start up the game so I can help you... oh wait I have to find a CD to put in. Hey Bob, pass me that disk over there in the stack of hundreds of them would you? and hurry up, I need it now!"
That would be a *real* effective way to run business.

Your assumptions of the way things work are so startlingly bereft of any grounding in the real world that I'm finding it impossible to understand how you haven't been run over while trying to cross a road yet.

haha that scenario is so absurd! you must be trolling. either that or you're a total sperglord, as dethtoll was saying

"Yes, yes of course. Could you hold on a sec, let me establish a remote connection to our Lead Programmer's computer right now... no he won't mind, he's only using three of his four cores right now.. ah there we go, just a few more seconds... I'm sure glad we kept all the design files of all the games from the past several decades in one single place, despite them being developed by vastly different studios you know? Oh there it is, the source code, give me just a few minutes to go through it and cut out all the DRM checks.... would you like me to add a DX11 support as well so it runs on Windows 7 native? No of course not, that, it'll just take a minute... alright, all done, can I put you on hold while the code recompiles?"
lmao

Forum rule number 1: If you can't come up with an actual argument against someone's point, resort to petty insults.
They e-mailed me again and provided me with a case number, so if I don't hear back from them I can call again and try to talk to someone higher up or just write a paper letter. I was originally planning to write a paper letter.
EvaUnit02 on 11/8/2011 at 17:18
Oh please, your argument has already been trampled into the ground. Face it, you have no grasp of how the real world works.

So having Asperger's is insulting now, is it?
Did I ever say that?
How has it been "trampled into the ground"?
I paid fair and square for a product and was never told that it was encrypted. I was also never told that I would be required to keep a disk in the drive. Now that technology has progressed to a point where I could take my small computer anywhere and enjoy my games, this is a problem. The consumer has no option here. This is an example of the industry's hatred toward its honest customers and I would jump with joy to see another game industry crash like the one that occurred in the 80s.

If Asperger's actually existed(and wasn't just another psycho-excuse for failing at life) then yeah, it would be pretty damning.
And only PA would be dumb enough to equate "browsing the internet" with "having constant internet connection just to play an SP game"
