wasn't that the same reviewer guy who thought bioshock was the 2nd coming as well ?
anyways, he seems to love the tpp and has good things to say about the augs although many of them are rather useless/redundant because of the tpp.....sounds a little hype to me. but he is spot on about the different options you get to tackle a map/hub. it's just the gameplay I am not convinced of after the leak.

Friend of mine is looking forward to HR too. I'm not sure on it, and I can't say anything about IW because when I bought it, it froze up all the time and I never even got that far in the beginning because of it, and still can't. However, maybe HR will be good, maybe it'll bring back the feeling I had when I first played Deus Ex, being part of stopping something big that could change the nation/world.

Not sure if this has been addressed already, but does anyone know what the DRM scheme on this game is going to be?
Thing is, right now I live in an area where I do not have the ability to hook up my personal laptop to the internet, although I can use websites thanks to a government satellite hookup we have. Am I going to be SOL?

It will use steamworks, if I'm not mistaken.

Great...
Now I need to make sure that I get a disc of cracks to go along with my copy.

Having played the press demo, I'm not sure how most of the critics and reviewers fail to see that this game is obviously much more linear and artificially constrained than the first two Deus Ex games. The missions are actually sets or areas that the player has to explore in a predefined way. Sure, you can navigate an area in a few given ways, but in order to get to a next area you have to use an elevator or pass through a hallway, and there is no other way around. It's basically a walk from point A to point B, with slight variations.
There is no point in backtracking or reexploring the places whatsoever, since any key code or a password you find should be used on a computer that is ahead of your walk through a mission. Once you explored any area, there is no need to go back. Whereas in the previous Deus Ex games you sometimes had to reexplore the places to find new things or get medkits, or heal with the help of a medical station. Regenerating health further adds to the feeling that the developers really want you to never look back.
And the most absurd thing is that when you complete the mission objective, there immediately opens a way that quickly leads you out of the mission area. For instance, when you kill Barrett, you can take an elevator and leave the facility in a minute. What the hell? If this fire escape was there, why couldn't I use it to enter the place in the beginning of the mission? Why do you, the developers, think that I'm an idiot and will get bored by crawling back to the entrance to the mission area, taking my way back? That was part of the fun in Deus Ex 1, when you complete an objective and than have to escape safely, especially when you are playing stealthily.
In its heart, this is a deeply linear game. It is just made that it looks non-linear to some.
