I'll always have a soft spot for Thief. It was one of the first games I ever played, and I still think it's one of the best ever created. I played the crap out of it back in the day. But I just can't take it any more... it's too tense for me. I don't know what's happened to me in the five intervening years; maybe I've gotten softer, or life's beaten me up a bit, but I'm much too twitchy and nervous now. I'll jump into it for a few minutes sometimes to re-experience the mood, but only as a tourist.

On the second to last mission for thief II (first time through). Its good, but I'm just a bit lazy and I feel like I'm playing the same mission but I'm now allowed to ko people.

I rest my case.
Are you saying that going out and enjoying the sun is
less manly than huddling in a dark room playing a video game? Does your definition of manliness also include 20-sided dice?

I don't play at all anymore. I've run through thief gold and thief 2 twice and played almost all the fms (90% best guess) . I do tend to rate all games I evaluate against LG Thief and Thief II. Its a shame that Thief: DS seems to lack that something and comes up short for me:tsktsk: . I think I'm outgrowing my fascination with the whole thief universe. I still bought it, but I just can't make myself go past the first mission. *sigh*
I lurk here more than anywhere else now, mostly for the chuckles, guffaws, and laughs I get from reading these posts. :thumb: :cheeky:

You can play all three Thief OMs without ever going to ThiefGen, you know; not a prerequisite last I heard.
hurr what
Okay let me explain the joke for THOSE THAT DIDN'T GET IT
i) I consider re-playing Thief
ii) I venture into ThiefGen and am confronted by the sheer stupidity and zealotry of those people who actually
do re-play Thief on a regular basis
iii) I vow never to ever subject myself to anything that could make me anything like they are, and go and play something more worthy like Oblivion instead

I still love to load up FM's on a regular basis and marvel at the skill and dedication of the Editors Guild. Just wandering around admiring the architecture and violently relieving the inhabitants of their belongings. Still one of the most edifying ways to waste a weekend.

Great games leave an aching in my soul that always makes me go back and replay them. I have both Thief games and Sys shock 2 on my pc and no plans to uninstall them.
When I want to play a real stealth game why settle for the garbage of today when I have the greatness of yesterday in Thief?

I play Thief2 (FMs mostly) often, and Thief1 (FMs mostly) occasionally. Once a week or so I visit CommChat, 'cause it's cheaper than going to the zoo. :laff:
