I'll play through all three games on a mad bout for about two weeks or so, and then I won't touch them again for another eight months to a year. The game is fresh every time I play it too. Still not like the first time though. daw gwav :(
Coincidentally, I just got done with Thief Gold...

I was drawn here trying to get SS2 to run, I posted in the DX forums for a while, and then came over to commchat. I've never been in the Thief forums (although I do like Thief). I haven't played any games at all for some months now, and the game I was playing was Gothic 2. I had already beaten Deus Ex and Thief before I came here, and the one game out of all three (DX, Thief, SS2) I felt the urge to replay (Deus Ex) stopped working so I gave it away for a long time.

SS2 player here, too. I did play the demo version of Thief (which, in retrospect, felt a lot like Splinter Cell), but for some reason I kept putting off getting the retail version. Seeing this thread tickles my interest, though. Would it be considered still playable, though? I remember the game having a rather dated look to it, which kept me from getting totally immersed.

I'm really only here because of System Shock 2, but that's a long story.
I don't play FMs. I tried one, ages ago. Played it for about 15 minutes and quit. Never had an urge to even look at another one since. For me, Thief is a whole package; the gameplay is utterly brilliant, but the game is about Garrett, his story and his experiences. Thief without Garrett - which is what FMs are, basically Thief outside his existence - just doesn't work for me. Without the impetus of the narrative, especially after the original games being as amazingly fucking good as they were, I'm just not interested.

If looks matter to you that much, ya might wanna stay away from it actually. I mean, the gameplay is fun, but feeling immersed is very important for the experience.
I played T2X and a bunch of FM's last summer. Startin to get the itch again...

It's so silly but what stops me from playing the games again is my fear of the damn zombies. In Thief three, the Cradle had me on some kind of adreniline fear mode. Unless there is some way to be sneaky and skip certain levels as I'm sure there are, I'll probably play again sometime.

I came here initially for Thief 2 information but the flavor and personalities of Comm Chat are the only reason I'm here. I liked the Thief games, but not enough to beat any of them, and certainly not enough to play FMs.
I think for my personal gaming habits Thief is just too much damn work, and at this point in my life I'm not that interested in hiding in a corner while trying to figure out what a guard's patrol pattern is. I always loved the mood and feel of the Thief games, but I never really enjoyed them as much as I wanted to. I think part of the problem is stealth gameplay tends to be fairly tense, and after about an hour of that I'm ready to head out into the sunshine and relax.
The Thief games are still dear to my heart for the feeling of exploring someplace you aren't supposed to be, but I wouldn't even rank them all that high in my list of favorites.
And System Shock 2? I can see why it's a brilliant game, but three hours of that was more than enough for me.

Yeah, Stitch just fell in my estimation. He likes pink fluffy games about bunnies and lovely shnookums.
