Nearly every day. The older ones to check some areas to reinforce my failing memory banks, and I try to do a new FM every few days.

I still play plenty of Thief. I'm constantly playing new Thief 1 and Thief 2 FMs (still have a taffload to play) and testing out which Thief 3 FMs my system can handle (damn 9200....). I also occasionally play through the OMs. I just recently went all the way through both Thief: Gold and Deadly Shadows.

Slightly depressing thread.. :erm:

Hadn't played in quite a while so I reinstalled and revisited both Thief I and II a while ago. Downloaded several FMs and started them, but time became my problem. A bit of job mayhem and upheaval. If it dies down soon, I'll def. get back to sneaking around.
I have, however, installed Christine's Ponterbee FM (Ver2) for SS2 and get to play in bits and snippets come weekend-time. Love it. Not the best way to play it, but you do what you can.
I'm looking forward to things easing up in the next couple of months. But, for now, I can officially say that I've never really tired of the Thief gameplay at all.
Never did play TDS.
Bad, bad, me.
... or not.

Maybe once every few months for 5 hours or so.. not too much at all.

I still play it. After I'm done, I check out the FM's. I wait a while (several months) and start all over again.

I think Scots mentioned in another thread that most people in commchat had stopped playing Thief
It's like everything though, I have a ton of favourite games... it's not like I keep playing them forever, what's the point in that? The whole point is to savour the experience, put it in a box, remember it fondly, then one day return to it and remember why you love it so dearly.
Another reason I would never replay a game constantly is because overfamiliarity with the engine and the environments is death of interest to me, you start exploiting bugs and flaws rather than feeling immersed in the atmosphere. I realised one time way back when, as I was replaying Thief TDP for the third or fourth time, that I was deliberately exploiting flaws just to see how fast or whatever I could get through a level and that's not what gaming is about (to me, at least). So, I actually sold my copy of Thief TDP ... a dark shame that I've only told one other person so far, and had recently contemplated starting a thread about (yeah, right just go to grouphug Scots).
I played through Monkey Island 1 and 2, as well as Grim Fandango, with my wife as she played them for the first time a year ago. I haven't played Deus Ex since I completed it, similarly for Mafia. And the last time I played System Shock 2, it was co-op, I haven't replayed it
ever.
Anyway, last year I started playing through Thief Gold because I felt like I wanted to do the whole THIEF TRILOGY EXPERIENCE and sadly, due to real life and computer hassles, I've never gotten through more than a third of TG on this replay, I haven't touched Thief II in years and I played through half of Deadly Shadows before I lost my save game in the great hard drive death of 05. Soo.... while I don't play them regularly and haven't played them for years, they are next in line after my HL2 and MP2 replays.

I play some FM's from time to time. I think its getting almost long enough to play T2 again though. I have plans for the summer.

We are planning on buying a new PC soon and my main requirement is that the specs are up to the latest gaming standard, including the video and sound cards. It would be nice just to lose myself in game play once in awhile.
A new puter??? That means we'll be seeing you again? I miss the TUT times with you, BA, LM, GA and Phae. I even started playing TUT again a couple months ago. It was fun but it was not the same pestering the guards when I ended up in my usual rat style. I even pestered BA and LM into playing for awhile but it did not last. Can't wait for you to get back. :D
OK, back to answering the original question. I played all the thief games and many of the FM's numerous times - Thief 3 I played only twice. Not that I did not enjoy the third game but it just did not grab you and make you wanting more like the previous two did. I never finished T2X. I left the player trying to get into the trains. Not that it was not a great game - it is very well done. Very thiefy. And I do need to finish it. But I am a busy lady and when I have time to play games, I end up choosing the multiplayer style rather than playing alone with just Garrett for company. Anyhow, he smells like a sewer. :eww:

I still play through all three from time to time and definitely keep up with new FM's - though I only play the ones that people rave about (plug: If you guys haven't played Ominous Bequest, you should. It's better than about 90% of the OM's).
The main problem with Thief nowadays is that it has *almost* prevented me from enjoying other games. They're either not immersive enough, the AI don't have enough personality (not to mention the main characters), the maps are too short and too similiar (I'm looking at YOU Hitman), the soundtrack is meh, etc. I find myself playing SS2 and DX quite a bit just to get that LGS feeling back, but that's wearing thin as well. My entire gaming future rests upon Bioshock at this point.
Yeah, it's a bit of a depressing thread, especially since I don't anticipate ever having the type of initial addiction to a game again the way I did with Thief. Something special happened with that game that just can't be duplicated. It's like the Beatles White album or Star Wars. Right place, right time, right people. Doesn't happen often, but it's great when it does.
