I think Scots mentioned in another thread that most people in commchat had stopped playing Thief, which is what drew them here in the first place, and that they stick around only for the community discussions. While the latter might be true for a lot of users here (I know I rarely post in thiefGen), I'm curious as to how many of you never play the games at all (substitute Thief for whatever other game it was that lured you in).
I'll admit that I still play it occasionally. Once a year or so I go back and do Thief Gold start-to-finish, and in between there're about 350 fan missions plus T2X that I've been meaning to get to.
I'm not making this a poll.

I play in bouts. I've played lots of FM's (Calendras, T2X, Morrgan's works etc.). After Deadly Shadows I haven't played the originals that much, just random bits here and there, but I think I'll re-play the whole series from the beginning at some point.
As soon as I'll find the time

Ain't that the truth... and I work at home, god knows how you people with real jobs manage it.
I still haven't played Deadly Shadows yet... though it runs reasonably well now, I'm waiting til I upgrade my PC (a good 7 months overdue so far). It wasn't any one game in particular that brought me to TTLG, it was just the fact that the place is full of LG fans, and the assumption that I would be able to have many rewarding discussions about game design in such a place.
[awkward silence]
So no, I'm not playing anything LG-related right now, but DS is on my 'play it soon' list, and short-lived attempts to replay Ultima Underworld are a common occurence. I only played a handful of fan missions after completing the original Thief, so there's plenty of material I haven't even touched yet.

From time to time I install one and pack me up about 2 or 3 FMs (both old and new promising stuff). :)
And hey, since Thief 3 FMs are beggining to pop-up, gives a good reason to check out in a few months to see what's new. :)

I play Thief very, very rarely these days. I haven't played the OMs in ages and I've only played a few of the biggest recent FMs (recent being anything after 2003). It's not the time issue for me - I just can't find the thrill in classic Thief any more. I know the engine and I can exploit the AI to its fullest, which definitely cuts the immersion down. And not to mention that the whole sneaking-in-a-corner gameplay doesn't appeal to me nearly as much as it used to be.
All that said, however, I still enjoy designing levels for it. The reasonably unique setting and the ability to cram ten times more gameplay time into a Thief map than you'd be able to put into a standard FPS level of the same size is something that makes me come back. Dromed and the Dark engine are horribly outdated, however, but that just means I'm slowly but surely readjusting my oculars towards (
http://www.mindplaces.com/darkmod/) The Dark Mod.
Edit: Also I hate TDS. Not with a fanboy passion, but enough that I'm not particularly interested in its FMs.

I played Thief Gold through a while back. I've never touched any Fan Missions ever, which is a throwback to having 56k, I suspect. Now that I have broadband, I'll probably give them a go sometime, as well as playing thief 2 through again.
Thief Gold is totally better than Thief 2 though

I find myself awaiting fan-projects and thinking "OK I'll play TONIGHT!" when an FM comes out, but I almost never finish it in less that a week(It took me eight months to finish T2X and a year to play all the way through Moth to a Flame!). I still like Thief very much, its just that I am now more into other things, but I do sometimes draw sketches with The City as the subject matter* in my spare time.
*-I'm more into buildings and objects rather than people.

I still play Thief & Thief 2 & Thief 3. Not as much as I used to, as I am too familiar with the maps these days & I know the threshold of the AI too well (as Spitter mentioned) but I still enjoy it. I'll play through the entire series from front to back every now and again. Lately I've been enjoying introducing Thief to new people who aren't familiar with it.

I still play T2 FMs all the time (haven't reloaded T1 or T3 since my PC crashed a few months ago). Komag (may the angels sing his praise) sent me a disk with all the T2 FMs released up until 2/06/06, so I've been pretty much gorging myself on them. Just took a break this week though to play TR Legend (omg it is soooo dumbed down I can't believe it! Great graphics, though) and next week plan on playing Dreamfall. Summer's coming on, so I doubt I'll have much of a chance to play a lot for awhile (RL & warm weather, etc.). You gotta take a breather now and then or you find yourself posting in the '1000 ways you know you've been playing Thief too much' thread again. ;)

I tried to play Thief I & II and some FMs recently. The PC I have now is too old and just can't seem to deal with any games being played on it. The PC crashes usually after 5 minutes and loses my saves so I just gave up on it. :(
We are planning on buying a new PC soon and my main requirement is that the specs are up to the latest gaming standard, including the video and sound cards. It would be nice just to lose myself in game play once in awhile.
