So... Deus Ex: Human Revolution got leaked to P2P networks - by system shocker

But can we use stealth without using the third person view?

Nope, that's the thing. The game is built around "wallhacking" in TPP.
YES. Despite what Koki said, you can utilise stealth without using 3rd-person view.
It will be tougher; more akin to DX1. You cannot use lean to peek around corners, but you do have access to a short range radar (range 25m, upgradable to 50m) that show hostiles' position and facing.

More akin to impossible. Enemies in DX are purposefully dumb so you can peek around corners and they only go HUH WHAZZAT? unless you stand there for like three seconds.
And... wait. The radar. Well fuck me then.

Without using 3rd-person cover, a player can still detect enemies and the direction they are facing via the radar (limited range of 25m, upgradable to 50m). However, as the saying goes "A picture paints a thousand words", the view via the 3rd-person cover is still vastly superior.
It`s also unrealistic and immersion breaking. Radar and sound positioning should be enough...the "not knowing" raises the tension and makes the game so much more entertaining. Hell, even radar is a bit much...but I guess it`s a sci fi setting so fair enough.

I'd take wallhack over the radar any day, realism-wise.

(Arguably) ok, but then you`re back in TPP. Catch 22.
Koki on 30/6/2011 at 17:46
Well, it might surprise you but I don't really care all that much.
I must be getting old...

The ability to peek around/over cover is a significant advantage to the 3rd-person cover mode.
That's exactly why I don't like 3rd person point of view. With Deadly Shadows I never used it BECAUSE it was a significant advantage. I think it's a lot more fun to observe from afar, plan my move and then use sound and, more importantly, timing (not only synchronisation, but also counting seconds), rather than just press a key and look. (BTW, I almost never used leaning to discover my surroundings with Deus Ex.)
What I want to know is if this gameplay of observation from afar first and then relying on timing is still possible one way or the other. The radar you describe is useless to me because it is the opposite of the gameplay I like.

I'm afraid I never tried testing hiding in shadows (after all, this isn't Thief)
Most of the times, I played Deus Ex the same way I played Thief.

Wow, the WHOLE game is now built around this one concept? Must be depressing living in your world...
Perhaps you mean "engaging in combat without taking damage" is built around wallhacking. Hence, if you play HX:HR just for the combat, you're missing the point son.

Amusing, yet pointless. I guess that's all you got? *sigh*
It's really hard to find someone who can actually defend their baseless points anymore.
