I don't have a lot of internet access at the moment so am a bit pushed for searching time so my apologies if the answer is somewhere I haven't found.
I loaded everything I needed (Thief2 with all bits and pieces, Darkloader, fms) onto a 'mini' pc in Sheffield where it all worked fine. I travelled to Devon and loaded a mission and it's as sluggish as hell. Mouse is very wobbly! I don't understand it and don't really know where to start looking. It just 'looks' all wrong as if the monitor has changed itself (and actually does change its resolution for some reason).
Which does kind of ring a bell. I didn't actually test the pc with the monitor I've brought down here. It's working in a different slot than my own monitor. And now I'm wondering about ddfix. Sorry for the ramble but I think I'm trying to sort through my thinking!
If I ddfixed my computer which fixed my old monitor, just because I copied everything over onto this pc, would I be right in thinking it wouldn't affect this new monitor? Wouyld I have to reinstall ddfix to make the changes to the new monitor? And if so, would I have to uninstall ddfix and then reinstall? And, if so, how do I uninstall it? I can't seem to find instructions for uninstalling.
Darn it I feel so thick! But you know what it's like when really ill people start getting better and become extremely demanding? I'm in serious need of some light relief so any help or ideas, as usual, would be very gratefully received.

It's probably from spilling booze on it.
The only thing I'm wondering about is how could the same PC work fine in Sheffield, but not in Devon? I don't know if this mean anything, and I could be pissing up a rope, but I believe you're saying that the PC is now plugged into a different monitor in Devon than back home. Could it be lacking a monitor specific driver?

Correct.

Could it be that you're making some kind of a sensible suggestion here? Excuse me whilst I pick myself up off the floor. :laff:
I dunno mate is the answer - I'm not technically minded! Could be the cows though. :)
Elucidation please. [Edit] I think I get what you're saying - I shall investigate.

A sensible person wouldn't trust anything I say. Especially since I've been lapping up the liquor off your floor.

Well I don't seem to be making much progress. Drivers seems to be OK and don't seem to want to be updated though I did download a driver but can't seem to get it to do anything.
One of the problems of a number of computers is that I forget what I've installed on each one. Anyway I tried the ddfix route but had to install .net framework. Anyway, I uninstalled ddfix and then reinstalled. I then remembered the widescreen patch and installed that and ended up with a very small box in the middle of the screen but which played very speedily.
One thing and another, I've uninstalled ddfix and the widescreen patch and it's all working much better, so although it looks like I'm going to be stuck in Devon for longer than I thought, I think I'll come to the end of trying to sort it out properly - it makes my head hurt.
Thanks Queue!
[Edit] Now reinstalled the widescreen patch and although it looks a little odd, it does seem to give the best performance. I'll make do with that. Ta again!
