I recently had a bout of concentrated nostalgia and reinstalled System Shock 1 and Underworlds 1 and 2. However, for some reason Underworld 2 behaves extremely slow in Win98; the entire game (menus, intro and all) is very sluggish and the music is slowed down as well. I've tried messing with all sorts of memory settings and with turning off the sound and graphics and with telling it I don't have a sound-card; no effect. However, the game (or at least the sound) returns to normal speed during screen fades, oddly enough.
Both SS1 and UW1 run fine in Win98, and I have never had this problem with UW2 in Win98 in the past; though the last time I ran it was on a p133 with an SB16 rather than the celeron-400 with on-board sound that I have now. Can anyone offer any input on the matter? I'll try booting to DOS to see if that solves the problem but I'd prefer not to have to in order to play it.
