A (
http://www.slingatron.com/) slingatron is a mechanical, hypervelocity, rapid fire, scalable sling. It's intended to shoot satellites into space.
From the (
http://www.slingatron.com/highper1024.htm) looks of it it will use centrifugal energy.
Now I'm not too astro savvy, but I noticed that a few people here seemed to be very interested and knowledgeable in the subject.
Also I liked the name of that thing. :)

Is this "Plan B" in case the railgun method doesn't work?
And then there's the space elevator....

If you read enough science fiction, you probably know all we have to do to stop armed conflicts is put a huge mass driver on the Moon on somewhere in the inner asteroid belt and aim it at Earth. Of course someone will have to keep their finger on the trigger... so you may just want to invest some money in that project, just in case you know. Tell them Marecki sent you.
