This has been bugging me for a while. I did the 'find runaway Argonian slave' quest in Suran and talked to the slave trader there. Then, noble person that I am, I thought I'd liberate his slaves. I got the key off him ('holding cell key'), but it did not open any of the cells in his 'shop'. I then opened them anyway and tried to free the slaves, but the key didn't work on these either. One of the slaves- the one in goggles, in a cell separate from the others- had a bigger dialogue box than the others, and I thought he may be somehow significant, but nothing questwise seems to point me to him. Is he important? And what is the slaver's key for?

I went through exactly the same thing Ania-I don't know whether you're already aware of this or not, but there are a number of slaves in the game who can't be freed no matter what you do (short of making a mod of course) The slaves in Suran are among these, sadly :-( You'll usually recognise such slaves by the fact that, if you talk to them about "go free", they will say something along the lines of "No. There is no hope for us" or something similar indicating that they won't ever be able to escape. Usually, there won't be a key for these slaves either. Although there is a key for the Suran slaves, it has no functionality, as you noticed. Don't know why it was included in the first place, it's pretty misleading!
As for Yakov, the High Elf slave with the helmet, I don't think he has any special significance, but maybe someone else here know better......I remember spending absolutely ages trying to free him, and in sheer frustration, I finally killed him.

Thanks Jordy, the mystery remains, but at least I know it's not just me :)

Jordana Chal, the Dunmer :P
Just incase you are wondering WTF I'm talking about:
Quote:
A Dark Elf woman was being shown around Daggerfall. When she was shown the magnificent Castle Daggerfall, she smiled sweetly to her guild and whispered, "It reminds me of sex."
"That's odd," said her guild. "Why does our Castle Daggerfall remind you of sex?"
The Dark Elf sighed, "Everything does."

Oh, OK, OK........ *retrieves mind from gutter and rinses it clean* ;)No need to do that on my account... a dirty mind is a terrible thing to waste, after all ;) I was merely enjoying the opportunity to tease you, it occurs so rarely ;)
