To be fair, Stitch, Morrowind can be finished inside of an hour if you really want to. It's a bit broken as a game.

Is it possible to stop most of the NPCs coming out with their favourite phrase?
To be fair, this happens in ALL the elder scrolls games. I am ready to kill that little girl in Whiterun. You know, the one that helps her mother run the cart. Selling fruits and vegetables. Sometimes she'll chase clear across town just to tell me. And follow me into my house. AUGH.

Well then, it's poisoned apple time! ;)
Can't say I've noticed the little girl being annoying. There's one dude in Whiterun that keeps telling me I should think about taking mercenary work should I stray within 30ft of him, who I've just about had enough of - although as there's much more variety in Skyrim I don't find it as bad as the Speak Quickly Outlander problem where it got old within 10 minutes and then manifested itself in every city.

Besides, while Morrowind probably presented the most interesting and unique Elder Scrolls world to date, I think it's difficult to argue that Skyrim doesn't do everything it did but far better.
But it's about more than just improved graphics and game mechanics - Morrowind has it's own unique atmosphere and setting and story. I think if someone's currently enjoying Skyrim, you definitely would enjoy going back and playing through Morrowind. Arguing that the game is long shouldn't matter either, if it's a good gaming experience then all the better that it's longer. Plus, it's not like the game is ancient (~9 years) - and with mods you can bring it somewhat up to date graphically.

The repetitiveness of the Morrowind quotes never got to me, I don't know why. I loved the "Speak quickly Outlander, or go away" lines. Also the silt strider guys. ("Short trip, long trip, you decide!")
I suspect that the reason it *feels* more repetitive in Morrowind is because very little of the quest info was voiced, it was all text. All you *ever* heard were the stock npc lines. ("NOW YOU DIE! YOU N'WAH!")
On the other hand, I wanted to murder everyone in Oblivion who said "I saw a mudcrab the other day." ;)

My 'favorite' NPC line will be "Must have been my imagination!", voiced by anyone having one of my ancient nord arrows sticking out of his back. :sly:

Hah, yes. I always think of Thief when I hear that one. ("Musta been rats...")
That said, a couple of my favorite lines are based on the fact that my character is a Khajit.
Whenever I get into a fight, someone will inevitably say "You'll make a fine rug, cat!"
And occasionally, one will say "You remind me of my cousin's cat! I killed that one too!"
That gets me every time. :D

I keep finding cool touches in Skyrim. There's a class of Forsworn called Briarheart. Apparently, these are Forsworn who bargain with hagravens: their hearts in exchange for magical power. And their in-game models actually have bloody holes in their chests where their hearts used to be. Freaky. But even cooler: if you pickpocket these guys, you will find they all carry a briarheart flower, which replaces their heart: if you pickpocket the flower, the Forsworn immediately drops dead.

That's pretty neat. Good to know because I keep having trouble with those guys. If they get anywhere near me they drop me in under a second, so I have to stunlock them to death with firebolts which gets tedious.

I still enjoy hearing about how
everyone used to be an adventurer until they took an arrow in the knee. Never get tired of that one.
At some point in Skyrim's history there must have been this great, epic battle in which many warriors faced off against other warriors who aim their bows — with great accuracy — at kneecaps. And only at kneecaps.
