Skull missing... What to do? - by mgeorge

I'm at the mission to kill the sniper for Skull. I do it but when I return he's nowhere to be found. I think the sniper killed him as there's a dead guy right where skull was! No one else will talk to me either. Is this mission gone forever?
I recall when I played the game the first time I really enjoyed this mission. Maybe reload from an earlier save?

This happens quite a bit and yes that's probably Skull, dead on the ground (check the corpse. It should say) and the mission is screwed now.
You can go send Freedom after them instead, but there's no blowing up any walls that way.

Sending Freedom after them probably won't work. In my recent playthrough, two members of the Duty squad died in an Electra anomaly and a third one was killed by Bloodsuckers, and now when I send the Freedom squad over there, the mission never completes after the remaining five members are dead.

Well that sucks. Reloading won't help?
Let me ask you guys this. I feel like I'm getting near the end of the game, and truthfully I don't want it to end I'm having so much fun. Am I? My problem this time and the first was, I have no idea what's really going on in the story, and the game doesn't really give you much guidance as far as what to do next. A good thing on one hand, but I have a feeling I'm missed big chunks of the game on this play through.
I've done some things I didn't do the first time, but other things I haven't done this time but I did the first time. I think at this point, I'm going to try and forget the main quest and just roam around. Problem with that is I keep getting "failed mission" in my PDA. Can you go back and get quests over again. I don't recall.

There's really only one "chunk" to miss. The story's just slapped-on with next to no background to it.

That's to bad because this is one of the most interesting games I've ever played, coming close to Deus Ex in terms of one of my all time favorites.
I thought it was just me not understanding the story the first time. I mean I got the general gist of it, but figured this time through, may understand it better. If only the story matched the gameplay.
So apparently I
am nearing the end. Ah well. I suppose I could try CS, although I haven't heard many good things about it.

The game will only end when you want it to end. You can play it forever, if you want to, as long as you don't go to the NPP. There are endless side quests that you could spend days on.
