I was introduced, like many Americans, to Indian raga type music via George Harrison and the Beatles. I love the Sitar, tablas, and other classical Indian instruments. Anyone else into this genre? Its beauty is so naturally evident. To me it is as if God himself is speaking and the universe is calling. It is always very moving emotionally. For some "fusion" type ragas, check out Ravi's daughter... Anoushka Shankar.

I like a brimful of Asha on the 45.

Yep. I like Ravi Shankar. Got a playlist on Spotify somewhere. There's loads of Sitar and Tabla music on Spotify.
Tabla is especially cool when used in ambient/trance music too. The real chilled out stuff.

Oh, oh, oh, I got something for that. Not electronic but ambient chillaxing with some fine sitar twangs floating on top. (

If you're interested in fusion sitaring/someone who can play that thing like a motherfucking axe rock star, try tracking down Asad Khan's stuff. You're likely to have heard him playing in Slumdog Millionaire, if you need a touchpoint.
