Just curious about how member status is determined. I've been a member since 11/2002, but my status still shows "New member". However, I see other members recently registered (this month) whose status is "Member". I visit ttlg at least 3 times a week, and I don't really want to be considered a "newbie" anymore.
Can anyone please tell me how status is determined?

I believe it is based on postcount - the status switches from New Member to Member after the 30th post.

It's based on the 30-post line.
The way we have the forum software set up, registered members are labelled as "New Members" until their 31st post, at which point the software drops the "New"

Thanks very much!!!
I've been more of an observer. But, now I'll try to be much more vociferous.

Ahhhh, I was wonder about why I was considered a Member after Mar 2003 while people on in mid 2002 were still new. Guess that is kind of an incentive to try DromEding. (Lots of questions = LOTS of posts)

I'm wondering when members are permitted to post attachments / images ?
Thanks,

Any member (new or otherwise) can post images as long as they are located somewhere that allows remote viewing, like a website.
As for attachments - hopefully that will never happen. Besides, there is no need for it. If you want to direct peoples' attention to something, just use a link or quote it in your post.

Actually, I reckon allowing attachments (within reasonable limits, such as files no larger than 5KB, and with specific extensions) could be a good idea. For example, suppose I've created a custom Thief object (using original textures). It would be more convenient to attach a 1.37KB .bin file (ready-for-use) than to dump the contents of a 4.94KB .e file (needs to be converted to .bin by the user) inside a code block and explain what to do with it. It wouldn't result in a large section of data stretching out the thread page either.
I'd say it really depends on how much people would abuse it though. It would probably be necessary to prevent attached images being displayed in the posts, for example.

Or you just get your own webspace and link to the bin file.
