FINALLY I saw the movie. We always get everything last in Finland :(
Skipping most of the thread I'll just tell my opinion.
I liked it, a lot. It's clearly a fan-product, and as such it works well. I hate it when someone makes a movie of a game, cartoon or whatever, that isn't all the way mainstream, and adds all kinds of "new vision" to it. That's when it usually ends up hated by everyone, especially the fans. If I go to see Silent Hill movie, I expect to see Silent Hill. And that's what it was!
There was some crappy cgi, yes, but I liked the way how they used real people to make some of the monsters (or, if they were cgi too, I must disagree on the "crappy").
Pyramidhead! <3
Acting and plot were not splendid, but decent enough. I've seen much worse in much bigger movies. In fact I was surprised how they managed to scrape up a storyline that somehow made sense, but was at the same time quite Silent Hill-ish. I've never found a real plot with conclusion in the games...
The scenery was realistic (to the context, I mean ;) ) and sounds were true to the games.
It's not gonna win any Oscars, but I enjoyed it. It really felt like an hour-and-half trip to Silent Hill :)

:wot: :weird: What are these lies you speak of in the context of this movie? Or do you just have some issues with law enforcement in general?

Silent Hill the film perfectly captured the first game; it's terrible dialogue, it's bad characters, and it's extremely vague and confusing story. However it also captured the beautiful nightmarish imagery, the feeling of being immersed in an otherworldly dream, and the general atmos. I enjoyed it because I enjoyed the games, but god help anyone who isn't a fan who sees this.
Totally buyin that dvd.
