Well, maybe this is not the right to place to rant, but it's a downright abuse IMO.
It's like if you buy a movie on DVD, then you have to ask the authorization to watch it and, if it wasn't enough, you can only watch it in your living room, because the player in your bedroom wasn't enabled to do so. Needless to say, you can't lend it to a friend. I wonder if you even can buy a used one...
Sorry to say, the gamers are to blame. They all should have refused to submit to such blackmail since Half Life 2. (which I refused to buy for that very reason)
They do to you just what you have allowed them to do. You asked for it.
(end of the rant)

I'm surprised people seem to still to be having troubles using the offline mode. Speaking from my own personal experience, offline mode has always worked just fine for me.

And Steam disconnects for me on a regular basis anyway so it's not like I'm technically "online" continually...

It's like if you buy a movie on DVD, and lost it, and don't have a DVD player anymore, and if you did you'd have to manually search for, download, and install numerous patches any time you wanted to watch it, except even so you can still play it in any room in your house, and at your friend's place, too, and without any of that mucking about.

You can buy it new at 75% off its already discounted price, which is potentially a lot less than what you'd buy it used for.
Thank God/Valve for Steam. :cheeky:

I would love to see stats for Dark Souls.

They'd be easy to compile. Just google for "I HATE <insert whatever here: BLIGHTTOWN/SEN'S FORTRESS/ANOR LONDO ARCHERS/ORNSTEIN AND SMOUGH/CAPRA DEMON/etc.>!!!!! GAWD!!!!  " and count 'em up.

A civilian opens a door on the left, and the first thing to pop in my mind is to get into the building and lose the pursuing forces there. But instead I die because there is an invisible wall, and the dude opening the door was simply an aesthetic piece of cinematic decoration during the scene that has been scripted to give me zero control. Really I was supposed to continue straight forwards in wide open space, to maximize my chances of getting hit by arrows or mauled by the guard dogs right there in the only place I'm allowed to go. Because straight is where players should go in a linear action game.
Do you know that this happens from a preview or are you just making this up?

Hypothetical deliberate exaggeration as an example for the post. Though I personally wouldn't bet on it being possible to take that left turn there in the actual game. We'll see.

Why not use an suggestion that might actually happen, without exaggeration?
You get your point across better that way.
