Solar system means in the system of the star 'Sol'. For some reason this mistake always pisses me off
I bet people referring to stars as a Sun really gets on your goat too.

Though Ripley's character has always intrigued me, I'd be more than willing to go see A5 as long as Ridley Scott gets free reign as director (first I'd heard he was only going to be a producer and some relatively unknown was going to direct the prequel). I've loved many of the movies Scott's directed to date and would love to see what he does with this one. Much as I love Ripley, I agree that her character's story has been told. To death.
I remember watching the sequence in Alien that takes place in the aliens' crashed ship and wondering why they gave it such short shrift. Kind of like, 'Okay, well, there's a dead alien but so what 'cuz we've got to get on with the main plot of this movie'. Made me wonder if humans had already had some sort of contact with an alien species before, so this was not really a big deal. Granted, the movie wasn't really about the crashed aliens, but I've always been curious about their 'story'. Can't wait to see how Scott handles this.

I liked the fact that they didn't go into the space jockey's origin etc. It lent the original movie an uncanny depth. A dark space to explore in your own imagination with Giger's nightmarish design as it's inspiration.

The even bigger problem is that hollywood doesn't seem to know the difference between a star system and a galaxy. They seem to think a galaxy consists of a star surrounded by planets and stuff.

To tell you the truth, I kind of wish Scott wasn't directing this film and they had instead got some new unknown to do it like they always had in the past.
Part of the enjoyment of the Alien franchise is while every film ostensibly takes place within the same universe, each was directed by a different guy who brought something new to the table (of course I'm not counting the AVP films here; those are just unmitigated garbage).

Alien Resurrection is worse than either AvP film.
