It sounds to me like no matter what form the communication would take you would interpret it as coming from you.In my experience the Hollywood special effects God appearance hardly ever happens. In fact the voice of guidance I get is hardly distingquishable from regular mental chatter except when I meditate or am extemely lucid.I will get an aha moment.Of course if your an atheist you would have to say this comes from me.
You might be interested to know that there are groups trying to actually investigate things like this: a common report of people who have had near-death experiences is a sense of leaving their body and looking down upon it from above...so to test this, people have started leaving large pictures of celebrities, face up, on top of cupboards and shelves in hospitals: a position where they are only viewable by someone floating in the air near the ceiling.
And they're going to try and find out if out-of-body experience folks saw them, and can report who the pictures were of. Should be interesting..;)

Probably because when some people hit rock bottom they find the idea of God comforting ....
It has been said many years ago: (

They're
still doing testing on the NDE bullshit? Do these people have nothing better to do with their time and money other than fritter it away on finding the cause of something
of which we already know the cause?
For those who don't know, a NDE is basically a very elaborate hallucination your mind comes up with as your brain starts to panic from lack of oxygen. They proved this by using what amounts to a huge centrifuge to cause people to black out. When they came to, they described shit that was very similar to what was described by people who had experienced NDE's.
paloalto90 on 18/12/2008 at 19:46
Yes this explains how some people blind from birth can see and describe the environment of the operating room during an NDE.

This letter was sent to one of the local newspapers in reply to comments made by a Mr. Paul S
(last names removed by me). Paul S, if I remember right, is the local, community-oriented, moral watchdog who looks out for the well being of our children by standing alongside busy stretches of road, and intersections, holding signs of gut-wrenching, horribly disfigured aborted fetuses.
I thought I'd type it up to share:
Quote:
Paul S's latest letter to the Argus-Press affirmed that our nation does not intend to live by God's rules, which was his conclusion drawn by the results of our latest election. He also suggested a
divine backlash for our choices at the polls. I can't speak for Mr. S on the following statement, but there are many who would love to see our nation governed by a Christian theocracy.
I've often imagined a Puritan utopia if there were no separation, and the church was our state.
Our two-party system could become the Catholics and the Protestants who could impose laws not unlike the following:
Performing or receiving an abortion would be a capital offense with no exceptions, while prayer in public schools would be mandatory, and intelligent design would be taught as a science. Gay marriage would never be uttered, and being actively gay in itself would be a crime. Possessing a copy of Playboy would be the equivalent to a minor drug offense, whereas owning hardcore pornography would be in line with heroin possession, and R-rated movies would be a thing of the past. Premarital sex and cohabitation of unmarried couples would be unlawful. A governmental agency called the SEA (Sexual Enforcement Agency) could be created to assure that the strict new laws of the bedroom and entertainment industry be enforced. The two parties could debate Biblical implications when setting policies on issues such as birth control and appropriate dress for women, as well as which books and music CDs should be burned.
Now my question to all the devout Christians who would love this hypothetical scenario is: what would be the result? Would hurricanes and earthquakes end? Would our summers be filled with days that are perfectly sunny and 74 degrees, with gentle evening rains? Would our hospitals empty because our nation's people would be blessed with nothing but great health? Would the economy flourish with a 100% living wage employment rate? Would criminals simply lose the urge to break the law?
I have heard that gays and feminists caused tragedies like September 11th, and Hurricane Katrina. But, what would happen if our nation fully and completely adhered to God's Laws?
I'd like to know.
Signed: Bill B.
While sounding a little bit looney, he does make a good point. What would happen in this "utopian" dogmatic society? And, don't such societies already exist--albeit not Christian. How's that working out for them?

When it comes to religion I define myself as agnostic.
That means that I will never be certain if God exists or not. The universe and its workings are so complex that I will never understand it completely.
But I think that if God exists he probably isn´t an anthropomorphic bearded man sitting in a throne in the sky.
Maybe God is a natural force that started the Big Bang, maybe an unconcious force that simply is but isn´t aware of itself, like "mother nature" that creates life but doesn´t have a mind per se.
Maybe God is councious but then his counciousness is probably very alien to us. Can his mind be omniscient ? Because an omniscient being would never have a choice, he would take every single perfect choice or action. That means that God ironically would never have "free-will". Maybe that´s why he created us ? To create a being so flawed but whose main power is to doubt and make choices, even if it´s flawed choices.
Or maybe God is made of all of us, a collective conscience that we come back to when we die and get away to rebirth.
Or maybe everything is created by the force of our minds, we can subtly shape reality by our will alone (a bit like "Mage: The Awakening" RPG or "The Matrix" or that self-help "The Secret" book). That would mean we created God instead of God created us.
As you can see at least I have some fun imagining how things could work on the universal scale.

Although it would never happen, due to normal people rioting and maybe even sparking a full-blown armed revolution; the hypothetical implications would be potentially devastating.
Abortion: What about cases of rape and/or incest? Those people should be allowed to have abortions. Rape cases because... well... it's rape; and incest because it would be to the detriment of the gene pool (ie: more people with trisomy-23). Then again, the whole "genetics" argument would probably fall on deaf ears because people THIS stupid barely believe in gravity, much less genetics.
Prayer in Public Schools: Wouldn't help convert the unbelievers, considering they would just fake it. Utterly pointless crap.
Intelligent Design as Science: No, just no. This would retard almost all scientific research and make us, as a nation, completely backward technologically and scientifically. The Ruskies would take over, and we'd live in a Communist regime forever.
Porn: This is a revolution in the making in and of itself. Removal of porn would spark a backlash the force of which has not been felt since the Revolution.
Premarital Sex and Cohabitation: Ooh, big word, "cohabitation." This presents several extreme problems, as you would either have to live with your parents or live on the street if you're unmarried and are "of age." His logic here is absolute failure.
SEA: Probability of this being successful is negligible, due to having such a broad scope and the amount of manpower that would be required would be criminally massive.
Dress Code: Fuck you. Fuck you in the ass with a fucking flaming sledgehammer.
Book Burning: As much as I love burning shit, I would have to pass on this. Although anyone suggesting we burn the author of this letter would receive much adulation from me and others.
All I have to say is, good thinking there, mein Fuhrer. Though you lose points for not insisting that we force all unbelievers in work and reeducation camps, and utilize humane euthanasia when your efforts fail. Also, you fail because you didn't suggest we go on a world-wide crusade to impose our new, highly-moral values on the rest of the filthy, godless world.
Honestly, this fuck needs to have his information outed so he can be found and executed so as to help prevent the spread of his obviously filthy genes. He is a shining reason why I believe certain people shouldn't be allowed to learn to read or write; because if you're illiterate, no one will ever take you seriously.
