My dad believes 100% that it is a sin to touch a lizard or snake, and won't let my 10 year old brother anywhere near them. I hate christains like my dad. They ruin everything good about the religion.
Agreed. There are some good values taught in the Bible, but it gets overshadows by all the fanatic bullshit that the preachers spout. I feel sorry for your brother, homes; kids under that kind of household really need to be taken in by DHS and given to a better family, no offense.

Christians that don't read and study their own instruction manuals need to shut up.
Yes, yes, and more yes. You can blab all ya want, but if you don't read your own damn book, YOU ARE DOING IT WRONG.

Back to the OP.
There was one I actually really liked driving by a while ago. It said something like:
"God wants spiritual fruit, not religious nuts."
I like this because at least one church somewhere can realize that being an overbearing god-fearing prick doesn't get you anywhere.
Personally I am christian and I can take all the critisism about how my views are cultist/supersistious/mythical etc. But I believe what I do and thats that, I"ll never force what I beleive on anyone else and I'll never call anyone down and tell them they're going to hell or other such crap. A vast majority of people who consider themselves Christian do not live by their own tenants and they're too blind to tell. I'm not perfect either but I sure try to have Charity for everyone which is most important, and If i DO believe in heaven and hell than I think the most important thing for me to do is to have charity and empathy for people no matter what they believe. It would be really nice to have somebody be a good example of why Christian doesn't have to mean Closed minded, conservative witch burners.

I like that one, wish I saw more like that. Most of ones I see make me laugh in the sad way, but occasionally you see good ones.

Wow, I just met a Christian I can actually like. ;)
I'm with you. I no longer believe in God for many reasons (after once beginning extremely devout), but I don't hold anything against those that do--and would just prefer to be left alone by those that wish to "save" me. Trust me, I don't need saving, nor do I want saving. And, if simply living a good life, helping out my neighbors, and not touching kids inappropriately isn't good enough then, frankly, I'd rather go to Hell in the end. Besides, there's more interesting people there and I hear they have a Happy Hour.
I wish more Christians would focus on the idea of God, instead of trying to mold the world into their vision, or version, of the word of God.

If its not too personal, would it be possible for you to tell exactly how you came to lose faith? I don't want to pry or anything, but its something I'm curious about. It seems that people indoctrinated into something like religion or politics stick to it, or at least value those things by default higher than those not indoctrinated to those views.
For me, I was never told to believe in god. My parents were both raised Christian and might still believe in god in some way or another (my dad was raised southern babtist and "quotes" jesus fairly often and complains that churches dont focus on what jesus said as much as they used to), but they never took me to church or told me god existed or didn't exist, so I kind of just realized one day I was an atheist. I wonder how that differs from someone who did believe (and I guess how you came to believe is important, were you basically born into it or did you discover it on your own) and then came to not believe.
If thats too personal or you don't want to for any reason I understand. You could also PM me if you just don't want to go into it here.
