Two questions:
1) What use are Sigil Stones?
2) I've been running around the Oblivion Gate near Anvil (the Bruma aid quest), but I can't find a way up the hill to any tunnels or to the tower. Any suggestions?

the use is for enchanting without being in the arcane university and sometimes the effect is stronger than you yourself could have made even being in the university, also you can make nearly worthless items valuable by enchanting them with the sigil stones and for the second question, haven't a clue

How do you enchant items? I'm a level 26 specializing in blade, heavy armour, speechcraft, mercantile, security, sneak, armorer, destruction, restoration, and markmanship, if that makes any difference.

1) Have an item to enchant and a Sigil Stone.
2) Open your inventory and click on the Sigil Stone.
3) In the window that pops up select the item you want to enchant.

Often Oblivion gates will have no direct way to the tower you must get to. You'll find tunnels going through the hill. The tunnels are very nearly almost like a maze. Just find one entrance and it should--eventually--lead you to where you need to go.

Thanks all. I was able to finally find a tunnel. I was looking for one up on the hill, but it was actually right in front of the gate...too obvious for me.

To expand on what PeeperStorm said about enchanting items, if you want to enchant items WITHOUT using a Sigil Stone, you need to have access to the Arcane University (or have purchased the expansion Frostcrag Spire). Take an item to the Altar of Enchanting, then select the spell effect(s) you want, duration etc (only from spells you know and are able to cast, I believe). Enchanting in this fashion will require gold, in increasing amounts depending on the magnitude of the effect(s) desired.

Two questions:
1) how many ways can i raise my maximum magica b/c there r spells i want
to buy/make but i need a higher magica to use them
2) i closed the oblivion gate outside skingrad for the Aid for bruma quest and
the hostess bitch keeps saying to wait in the hallway, the count will be
with me in a moment, but he never comes......i think sumbody wrote
about this in another thread but i wasnt too sure if it was the same
quest, anysuggestions on how i can talk to the count and get my their
troops for bruma?
i forgot to add and am too lazy to go to edit it, but the guards killed the orc guy in skingrad and i need to buy my house from him.....how can i bring him back to life so i can buy the house? (x-box 360)
RyushiBlade on 4/8/2006 at 01:13
Most likely you can't. I'm curious as to why the guards attacked him? I think at one point the Orc does get... discarded, but a replacement comes along that will also sell you the house.

when you gain levels you can boost intelligence and if you use a skill more often then you can level up and by lvling the required magicka decreases so have fun:thumb:
