Hi!
I decided to hop in SS2 again, like in every other summer...
But this time I want to play with the SHTUP Beta 5 version. On the instructions it says that on the install.cfg file I must type "d:\games\shock2\res+f:\shock2" on the resname base thing that IS SUPPOSED to be like this: "resname_base d:\games\shock2+f:\shock2"
But I already checked my Install.cfg document and it's different than on the Readme:
cd_path .
install_path .
language english
resname_base .
load_path .
script_module_path .
movie_path cutscenes
Can somebody please provideme a "valid" command of the resname_base line?

I already did, but it just adds: resname_base RES
That's all it does...

That's all you need.
It also moves the .crfs into the aforementioned Res folder.

But it's not working.

Could you elaborate a bit? What exactly did you try after you installed the game? What happened? Any error messages? Did you choose a full install during installation? Did you read the "Typical procedures" for the SS2 Tool?

I instaled the game, and it runs perfectly fine. I just wanted to play with the SHTUP Textures, so I downloaded it but it says in the readme that to have System Shock 2 mod ready I have to put the 16 files in a folder called RES, I did it, and it also says that I have to chane the install.cfg file so it looks like this:
Original:
resname_base d:\games\shock2+f:\shock2
Modified:
Resname_base d:\games\shock2\res+f:\shock2
But I don't know how to do that step because my install.cfg file just looks like this:
cd_path .
install_path .
language english
resname_base .
load_path .
script_module_path .
movie_path cutscenes

Try deleting the . and inserting the path to the res folder, which will depend on where you installed the game on your hard drive. Make sure all the drive letters are right and the path is correct. The other lines in the cfg are pretty self-explanatory as well. For cd_path, again, delete the . and put the drive letter for your CD drive where the game CD is so D:\ for example.

Thanks!
I am a PC "noob" so I don't really know how to proceed, I did what I could, but now everytime I try to run SS2 it crashes, fortunately, I saved a copy of install.cfg
So, can you please help me to put the paths correctly please?
The path where I installed SS2 is the following:
D:\Games\System Shock 2

Unnecessary work. What we see is (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?p=1096277#post1096277) N.Wegner's install.cfg which has been proven to work a million times by now. And it works for jagguar20 as well, as he just mentioned. He's only making a mistake while trying to get the game mod ready.
jagguar20: After a fresh install choose from the SS2 Tool:
- "Merges CRFs" (This is a subfeature of "Patching Up")
- "Getting Mod Ready" (complete with subfeatures)
Then you can extract SHTUP into your install folder.
