Hey guys. Couldn't find anyone addressing this issue. I cannot seem to get the SHTUP mod to work for the copy of SS2 i got from GOG. I was able to get the Rebirth Mod to work fine. My guess is that i need to made the game 'mod ready', but the example that the install file provides for adding in the /res pathway doesn't work for the gog version. It appears in the walkthrough guide, that they assume your install file is running off the harddisk files, as well as the CD rom files. Since Gog's copy is an executable that does not use the CDROM the, install file contains a much different path, that for me is void of drive letters (instead containing decimals and pluses) and already contains some mention of the /res folder within its default path.
I tried skipping this step, but moving the cft files from the data/res folder, as instructed, but when i do that, the game doesn't start at all when I launch the ss2.exe file. I was able to play the game by moving those cft files back, but then the game wasn't recognizing the SHTUP textures in the root folder.
Any suggestions would be awesome. Thanks

Because the gog installer is basically a SS2Tool modified version of the game, you'll want to follow the instructions provided on systemshock.org.
(
http://www.systemshock.org/index.php/topic,106.0.html) here are general instructions to get your installation mod ready
(
http://www.systemshock.org/index.php?topic=22.0) and here is the thread for SHTUP specifically
Essentially, what you'll want to do is unpack SHTUP into a file called "DataPermMods" or "DataPermanentMods"(though this one is now obsolete in current versions of the SS2Tool).

AFAIK the GOG release comes mod-ready out-of-the-box. So my guess is that you just need to extract SHTUP into DataPermanentMods.

That did the trick. Thanks a lot guys :)
I ended up moving those cft files from the Data\res folder, and it worked. Was that unnecessary?

you should not move or modify the default files unless you know exactly what are you doing. keep the crfs in \Data\res.

res\ or Data\res\ is where they are supposed to be in the first place, who told you to move them away from the res folder?

some ancient guides that recommend making the default cd install mod ready by creating the res folder and moving the crf files there are still floating around the net, and people still manage to find them somehow.

Yes they tell you to move the crfs to the res folder, not from it...
