Yes.
This doesn't greatly concern me though, since ZIP compresses it by 97%.
Yeah... true...
Down I go...

After playing Bioshock for a while now, I've got the urge to do SS2 again. Where do I extract the file to? I do have the rebirth mod.
Any help appreciated.
Just extract everything to the default SS2 directory, but make sure that the folder structure remains the same as in the archive.

Started playing SS2 again last week with my family on the lan. ttlg forum was invaluable in assisting me getting the game up and running on XP.
We have been using SHTUPb5, and I am impressed with the quality of improvement of the visuals. And now, an even further improved texture set. Hat's off to you, Team SHTUP.
Thank you.

I'm hoping nobody has had any performance problems with Beta 6. It uses a ton of Targa textures, which might slow loading and rendering down a bit.
Well I think I might be experiencing it a bit when first restoring a save game. The game does not come to a complete halt, but there is a noticiable frame rate drop for a moment, then things are back to normal. This is with the vanilla SS2 campaign running at 1280x1024 res.
I don't recall ever having hiccups with SS2 prior to this and previously I was running SHUTUP beta 5. I have a Geforce 6800 Ultra, 2GB RAM, XP, Pentium-M 2.13Ghz.
Thank you again for your work in enchancing SS2.

Interesting. I had the same thing happen, but only with Polaris and not the original campaign. The game slows down for a brief moment after level load (it essentially freezes), but then speeds up again and goes back to normal.
Either way, luckily the slowdown is brief and doesn't really affect the gameplay.

I am guessing that it is probably map dependent in some way.
I started the regular SS2 campaign from scratch so my observations are from the very first deck when you get out of the cryo-container. Are you playing from the same level or did you restore a savegame from a different level?
One thing to keep in mind as well is that I previously played UNN Polaris in this installation. I used Garretloarder to return SS2 back to its "shipping" state, but maybe that process is not 100% clean and remnants of Polaris are still affecting my game.
Just some thoughts.

Great to see the new beta's out finally! :D I haven't played the original campaign in ages, I've been wanting to spend a day or two soaking up the whole game all over again, I've got even more incentive to try it now. :thumb: Everything looks great, as always!
Just because I'm curious, is there much of anything left on the to-do list, or are you almost finished?

Has the player model been redone?

There's a fair bit left to do, actually. There's still one magazine and one stim unit portrait I haven't updated yet. The stim unit beds. All the turrets. Some barrels. Some food items. The eggs (these could really use a remodeling). A bunch of other stuff that I'm forgetting right now.

How come no one ever mentions the animated panels on the walls? Excuse my ignorance but I just completed the game yesterday (awesome textures!) and those things stick out like a sore thumb now. The "warning", "error", "attention" signs, that sort of thing.
