Yes.
Just add two^H^H^Hnine parts vodka, a raspberry, and a tiny umbrella.
Oh, and, preferrably, a decent lounge chair.

Normal sewage water is treated more than filtered. It still has all kinds of shit in it. I'm not surprised it's messing with fishes. Hormone replacements are relatively easily filtered out, though, especially if it's enough to reduce them to trace levels - i.e., far less than your body already has.
Water reclamation in many areas is probably not a matter of if but a matter of when. (Technically, ALL water is reclaimed. The evaporation/rainfall cycle is essentially distillation, however - very energy intensive. If we're going to go that route we might as well use seawater. It's not really much cleaner - where do you think all that sewage is going - but people feel a lot better about it.) I think it's more productive to debate the technologies involved rather than the need.

My opinion is - no to recycled sewage water for drinking unless good scientific evidence can show us that there are no more female hormones in the recycled sewage water than in fresh river water. Females are great but I don't want babies to be born with genetic mutations from hormones in the water or problems to occur for adult males or females (from overdosing - if that's a possibility).
Eh, best if everyone turns into a hot hermaphrodite. Problem solved, drink all the recycled water you can, huzzah.
Like Paz.

People in the middle ages used to drink from the very same water source they pooped in. Sure they were pretty dirty but still clocked in at a respectable 40. The point is this is a moot point, when we'll be thirsty we'll be drinking ivey if we could, but right now we're not and we're debating like gentlemen. All this debating will mean nothing when we start getting thirsty.. let's just hope science can continue to progress and fix problems like these.

So drinking from the toilet isn't exactly ruled out, eh?

I happily support MrDuck's solution of turning all humans into hermaphrodites. Then we wouldn't have this problem.

Fish - Aye, aye. And --finally- we can go "fuck ourselves" without the use of any special hardware. Ah, 'twould be a brave new world.
