No worries. I downloaded the Float32 mod, and that turned out to be the culprit. The game still looks good with static lighting. Especially on my 40" tv :)

It does but it looks SOOOO much better with dynamic lighting. I just got an 8800 GTS this week and the difference to the atmoshpere is phenominal.

I've never seen static lighting in action, maybe I'll check it out just to see the difference.

Hmm... I get OK performance (40-50fps on average, 10 or so less indoors) on an X800 with object lighting. Granted, I had to sacrifice AA and move down to 800x600 to do it, but the amount of atmosphere it adds to the environment is well worth it - beyond getting the bump and parallax mapping the main things are the shadows and proper night time. Go inside the hangar type place in garbage at sunset, the Bar at nightfall or get up on the rooftops in the wild territory and just absorb - totally stunning. Couldn't go back.

Most objects in the game world will not cast shadows. Certain fixed objects such as trees or buildings will still cast shadows, but these shadows are not dynamically affected by light sources - they are fixed light maps. For example look at a tree as the sun sets; in this mode the shadow remains the same size and shape. In the Full Dynamic Lighting mode (see below) the tree shadow will be more detailed, and will move around and change shape as the sun moves. Note that High Dynamic Range (HDR) lighting will also be enabled automatically and cannot be turned off.
