Greetings.
I started to play STALKER when it first came out. The game ran flawless with all settings maxed out - except full dynamic lighting. I got to the first underground lab, but then quit, thinking I would play wait until I got my new PC this fall.
Being honest, graphics are important to me, but only to the extent that they add more weight to the impressions the gameplay and story give me. I've been hearing that the game looks radically different with dynamic lighting turned on. Should I wait for the full experience, or just play it now?
I'm not really asking for a definitive answer here, just some thoughts on the issue, those of you that have seen it in its full glory.
Thanks for your time.

Just lower other graphics settings to make full dynamic lighting smooth enough to be playable. Though not resolution, that should be the last thing you want to lower imo.

Why not using the object dynamic lighting instead of the full one? Looks just as good at first glance and isn't such a load for GPU.

Dynamic lighting looks too damn good to just give up without even trying to make the game playable with it enabled.

I'm talking about the difference between object dynamic lighting and full dynamic lighting, not the static one.

Screw this, I'm installling it on my current PC. I just downloaded some new drivers for my X800. The old drivers were from 2005 :tsktsk:
Perhaps this will give allow me sharper graphics.
Anyway, does anyone know if I have to have 1.0001 installed to apply the latest 1.0003 patch?

So I set the settings to 'Object lighting' and restarted the game. Now I get the error 'Pixel shader 1.1 required.'
I thought X800 cards were PS1.1?

I remember the lighting is what made the original Unreal really cool and immersive.
