You ask if a game is worth your time because of a slightly borked compass you could probably fix yourself (there is an editor in there, and compass directions shouldn't be too hard to twiddle)?
Personally I didn't notice. I don't think I ever used the compass, it was just something that was there. But then I'm more an "upstairs on the right" than a "North-east corner" kind of navigator.

it's the level's orientation to the rest of the world which is incorrect. i don't NEED the compass, since i still have the level orientation correct in my brain. it's disturbing to see "one of the best video games of all time" have such blatant and annoying errors. it's not giving me a good impression

I can not understand how something meaningless as the compass can annoy someone. It's not like the compass is something essential to the game and that might also be the reason why this mistake is overseen.
I never took a look on that stupid compass and I played the game like 4 or 5 times because it's such a great game.

it's not meaningless to someone whose life revolves around direction. ever since i was a little kid, direction has always been ingrained in me. i'm just saying, if they could overlook something like this, who knows what other shitty bugs there are in the game

Okay, it's official, you're a weirdo.
Shouldn't you be off counting piles of toothpicks or something? Sounds like you'd enjoy that a lot more than Deus Ex.

i'd rather be here bashing the game :thumb:

I'm sure lot's of people would think we were all weirdos for posting on this forum at all.
Although I do think that io should just play the game and stop picking holes in it. I really enjoyed DX:IW and had fun playing it, but DX is a far better more immersive game. You don't need to play it first, but I think anyone who only plays IW is missng out. If he likes mindless fps fun maybe he should try Project Snowblind.

no, i'm actually enjoying dx1 pretty well... i just got severely annoyed by that... but i will continue playing it tonight for a while and see if i can REALLY get into it

Did you rescue Smuggler's buddy while in New York?

I so want to replay Deus Ex. I tried once, going for a no-kills stylee.
But the game mechanics are too poor to be able to allow it. And I just couldn't rely on the baton to take anyone out and the tazer has too little ammo.
The issue with the game mechanics is the "omg you hit me with a knockout dart MY MAGIC RADAR TELLS ME EXACTLY WHERE YOU ARE EVEN THOUGH UNTIL NOW I COULD NOT SEE YOU SO FAR AWAY AND IN COMPLETE DARK". I just cannot cannot cannot staaaaaand that kind of lazy programming. Even in Thief you could arrow someone from the shadows ffs. FFS
Game is spoilt for me :(
Last time I played as a stealth killer - cloaking, silencers, stealth pistol, laser sights, sniper (silenced), hacking. I want to try something different, and not just a dull run in and blow crap up way. I thought a silent no-kills method would be fun, but with the magic radar it's all fagged up.
Shame.
