About the only thing I liked in DX:IW was the music. The rest? Meh. (It sure didn't help matters that the game kept locking up, every time I used the scope.)
I would definitely play Deus Ex first. Then be prepared for the disappointment that is Invisible War. It had its moments, but basically it's just a mess.

For those who are having trouble with the commandos's, aim for the part where the top part of the suit meets the bottom part of the suit, and hit it with the stun prod for a instant takedown ... :)
"zomg this way to the end-of-the-world-button!!!"
Yeah.
And not to mention the character changes...
Paul refers to Chad several times in Deus Ex as a friend. Why then does Chad regard Paul as a dangerous McGuffin in Invisible War? Chad was very grateful to MY JC for saving his shadowy comrades. Obviously if someone does you a favour, it is traditional in France to change your entire philosophy, hook up with a woman with the Biggest Packet Sniffer in Europe in her basement and reform the Illuminati to KILL the bastard who saved you.

TracerT already had the OOC Disease in DX, deciding to blow his livelihood to shit. By the time of IW, he is a inferior version of Harley Freaking Filben
And many more. I am currently replaying IW as a rebellious piece of shit who makes it a habit of capping every
Illuminati puppet
he sees. I don't think I'm going to make it to Mako.

Here is my problem with IW: (I refuse to call it DX:IW. It's a disgrace to DX1) Someone decided that the game should be made into a more easily playable game by the mainstream gamer. Doesn't sound too bad... Only what it actually means is "Let's make the game play like UT2k4". I played DX first. I started replaying it on the very second I finished IW, and I'll tell you why. If you play IW first, and then DX, your first impression from DX will be: Wow. I actually have options and choices! Decisioin! What I do MATTERS!!!
Yup. Believe it or not, in DX, you can actually CHOOSE what you want to do. If someone sends you to blow something up and you don't, you don't just get a slap on your wrist. In IW... Well... People must've found out the magic forgiving elixir, because you can completely ignore a faction during your entire play, and yet they'll keep sending you objectives. Why? Well, because you believe in them, duh! That's why you've been doing exactly the opposite of what they want!!! Isn't it obvious?!
The *only* time in IW where you can actually make a difference is in the endgame. The last 30 minutes of the game. 20 if you're fast. 10 if you decide to go with the killing-spree ending. So... Hmm.... Yeah.... Take IW, throw it on the road, and run it over with your car a few times. Then, load up DX, and enjoy yourself.
(I can't believe I've finished IW twice. Second time was because I couldn't believe it's that bad, and was telling myself I must've missed the magic door with plot behind it. I didn't. There is no door.)

Hey... nothing wrong with a bit of well-crafted multiplayer phun now and then. ONS-Tricky ftw. At least it doesn't pretend to have an intelligent story.

There's indeed nothing wrong with UT2k4 (Although I'm a CTF guy myself) but that's just not something I want to get from a game that pretends to be the sequel to Deus Ex - I expect a plot, and character development... You know, those weird little things that made DX so great?

DX1 is really one of my absolute favourite games and i really tried to get into IW but it really isn't the same. DX is much better in my opinion so you should really play it first.

Thanks for your input pnK. It's a good thing he decided to twiddle his thumbs for two weeks in case anyone else decided to post on this thread.

Well it's even better that you actually KNOW that he did wait for my post, so thanks for YOUR input.
Oh and btw this thread could be useful for other users as well but i guess, as you have the greatest wisdom of all, you'd already know that, right ?
