Because a thread is not an encyclopedia article, it is a conversation.
Not completely true. The first response to many questions on this forum is 'use the search facility'. That is because the threads are not JUST a conversation, they are also a reference tool, and previous threads can be consulted to get an answer. In the same vein, if new information on the same topic turns up, the existing thread is the most useful place to put it. Then if you search for something, you are more likely to find a single useful thread, rather than a hundred mentions in a hundred threads.
Of course, it helps if the resurrecting post is relevant.

Just because you can bring them back to life, doesn't mean you should.
Or you could use the analogy that instead of dying and being brought back to life, they just went into hibernation and then woke up again.
(I suppose that 'suspended animation' would be a better analogy for a System Shock forum).

VIKI is nothing like SHODAN.
If anything VIKI is like XERXES.
VIKI's voice tone never changes like XERXES it is always the same whether she is trying to plea for her life or trying to take out Sonny.
SHODAN's voice changes from happy to sinister which makes her much more complex as an AI than VIKI or XERXES.
VIKI like XERXES can only 'access' and see areas where their are power strips or in XERXES case where their was a X-Terminal or camera.
SHODAN was more like a living entity that surrounded and encompassed the ship than a computer. She knew exactly where you were at any given time which would make her Conscious in my opinion.
AI vs Human has been a stereotypical plot for a long time.
I would like to see a movie where AI are not personified as evil and descructive and would explain how AI would fill a great human need in our lives.
