It's not even a question of getting Foxed. The simple fact is that most of these people announce projects like this with no comprehension of how much work it is to create a complete game. So they get as far as modeling a gun, or doing a half-assed recreation of MedSci, and are never heard from again.

To the OP, I present (
http://www.purkaiasoftware.net/) The Shock Project.
3.5 years in dev, 20+ people in its heyday, never completed.
And that was with the same engine and assets as SS2.
Good luck.

RGrade: I'd HIGHLY recommend making a FM first. Aim for the hills before you try and fly to the sky.
One FM depending on motivation could take around 3-6 months to make and teach you much of what goes in making good System Shock content.

Wow, man, finally I got a chance to see myself how might it look like! I've been looking after this project along with Citadel Convertion since 2002, but there was nothing more than screenshots (that I still have).
Wow! That would be a great mod if it were done someday! I've playes through the unfinished maps for hours. The cyberspace idea is great!
