I'm thinking, this is the longest going pisstake on any forum ever.
I have to say, I am kind of impressed that this thread has been going on for as long as it has. I guess raving insanity knows no bounds, eh?
NiXPhoE, since you've been working on this tool since August 2007, do you have any end goal in sight? I still don't own a copy of System Shock 2, so I've never actually had a need to test this tool, so I am not sure what kind of changes you've done or what this tool can do now that it couldn't do before, but I am a little unclear as to whether or not you plan to call the tool "good" and move on. I also notice that you have some different files going on here, namely
citadell.bat - For System Shock 1? Is there anything that the installer can't do that your tool is going to be able to do? Otherwise, it might not be worth the effort to have this included with ShockCfg. As far as I can tell, the only other option that config.cfg
could use is a development mode, but the binary has it hard coded not to work, and would need a mod to enable it.
xerxes.bat - This is the main System Shock 2 configuration batch, right?
rickenbacker.bat - And what do you mean when you say this is under your development? What exactly is this file supposed to do? Unless it actively serves a purpose outside the main SS2 config editor, it seems silly to include it separately, and can probably be merged with the main Cfg editor.
Don't get the wrong idea here, I am not trying to stifle your updates, not like I could if I wanted to, but you've been working on this project, probably as long as I've been working on Half-Shock. Where do you see the project upon its completeness? Or, are you using this as a sandbox to experiment with programming? I know I discover something new every time I pick back up the Half-Shock levels and resume recreation, so I can understand if this is your ultimate goal, when all is said and done. But, my curiosity is piqued, if not just because my hand hurts from writing so damn much and I need a break.

He's been working on this thing several years longer than you think. It is supposed to be a config editor for both games of the System Shock series. He fails because he's nuts.
Is klar. Wach auf Mann und besorg dir einen Platz in einer Verhaltenstherapie. Fang einen Job an, der nichts mit Computern zu tun hat. Werd erwachsen.

I uploaded Version 3.03.07.
Please give me feedback how compatible SS2Tool is?
Who can do the work with the three bugs?
Thank you

don't have a endgoal, that's the foun! After System Shock 2, System Shock and Bioshock I will go on for Baldus Gate and Icewinds Dae, because ther Inifiles have the same format.
The Tool is for configuring System Shock 2, like written in its readme. If you can give me your address I will send you a copy of System Shock 2 as present! ;D
Citadell will make the config of System Shocks cfg when it is done.
Yes, Xerxes is the Tool for now.
Rickenbacker is the Same as Xerxes, but I work on it, because I like to do a painted Tool too.
what? My english is not so good! :)
Al_B told me, that you could help with the three bugs?

Ahh, I see. It is kind of impressive that he hasn't burned out yet. :P

Will your tool be able to make any changes to the game binary? I don't know anything about the config file itself outside of how to make System Shock run without a CD and the before-mentioned debug mode (and all the other settings that are set by the installer), so you probably won't have much of anything to do, unless you start modifying the binary.

I see, so one is like a stable release, and one is like a work in progress release?

SS2Tool must be impressive, that is true. :) I hope he will support all the original cfg fils!?
citadell will not modify the binary, it will be interessting to code a console, but this will all take place after Rickenbacker ând Xerxes are done.
yes, Xerxes is stable and I will do only some minor changes. Rickenbacker is work in progress.

That's true ZylonBane, I read this point at Google. Got to try that out. :)
voodoo47 that's also true, ShockCfg.3.03.07.zip is gone somehow.
I will give the Layoutmanager a try and I will try to separate the Save and the Abort buttons by a gap. Also I will make the two Rickenbacker not so green. At the moment they look in a excessive design.
You can find me also here (
