"ShockCFG" is a SS2 configuration program by Dudu3k (NiXPhoE) who has done a few fixes for the German version of SS2. I have no idea what this poll is about. Last time I checked ShockCFG was only for SS2 (not SS1).
The (
http://mitglied.lycos.de/dudu3k/gameindx.htm) download site lists the features as:
Respawning, weapon degradation, Joystick, Roger Wilco, Intel 752/810 Chip's, God Mode, language selection, entering savegame names, screenshot viewer, change quicksave-slot, bind MP-messages to F-keys.
A couple of these changes can be done manually after reading the file
readmep.wri ((
http://www.strangebedfellows.de/index.php?topic=12.0) online here) that you find in your SS2 installation dir after installing the patch. Others have previously been the subject of mods.
The MP-messages are interesting.

In any case, why on earth do you think ShockGen knows or cares enough to choose versioning software for you? Pick a horse already. If you're that unsure about which system to use then ask on a developer forum, where you're likely to get an informed answer.
<small>(Hint: there's a reason subversion exists in the first place.)</small>

@kolya:
right the upcoming version will be for ss1 too, just because ss1 uses a config file too and its for completenes :rolleyes:
@Vigil:
I'm looking here for people that want to become part of the project, so I did this poll.
ShockCfg will feature the whole confug stuff! also some switch for dual-cpu. maybe we can go so far, to add a dromed-cfg and a level loader, as also a demo loader!
the special thing about this java version is that it not only should be runnable under linux, also it has a console, ide, 2D, 3D - view! and what is netbeans? :wot:
I keep trying to upload a first version of the new baby tomorrow, but I lost a hard disk, and this can be somewhat tricky :sly: lets see...

From what I can actually understand, I like what I hear (read). Allowing SS2 and dromed to work in a hyperthreaded/dual cpu system without having to make changes to windows startup files I`d love to be able to do.

So why didn't you say so to start with? That should be in the title of your thread if you want to solicit contributors.

A few thoughts about the features of ShockCFG.
- respawning: Useless. We already know that the respawn variable in shock.cfg doesn't work reliable. That's why Zygoptera created the (
http://www.strangebedfellows.de/index.php?topic=81.0) Spawn Mod.
- weapon degradation: IIRC ShockCFG has a slider setting for that which is nice. Setting it yourself in shock.cfg (gun_degrade_rate <0,0-1>) is still an option of course. And there's a mod by Zombe that came with the mod manager to set this to zero easily.
- Joystick: Useless.
- Roger Wilco: Useless. Starts up Roger Wilco with SS2. Like you couldn't do that yourself or Alt-Tab.
- Intel 752/810 Chip's: If that's the dual-core setting, then that's nice for beginners who run into this problem. (
http://www16.brinkster.com/salvage/thief/darkengine.htm) Salvage's solution is the alternative.
- God Mode: Useless. Worst cheat ever. Takes the fun out of the game, cannot be turned off once saved.
- entering savegame names: Mildly useful.
- screenshot viewer: Mildly useful. Every picture viewer like (
http://perso.orange.fr/pierre.g/xnview/endownload.html) XnView or (
http://www.irfanview.com/) IrfanView will do and likely have more features integrated.
- change quicksave-slot and bind MP-messages to F-keys: Useful (for people who haven't read the readmep.wri mentioned above).
It's not clear yet which settings can be changed for SS1 but taking a look at CYB.CFG there's not much use changing these. Looking forward to ToxicFrog's next version of his (
http://www.ttlg.com/forums/showthread.php?t=100333) SS1 editor here.

Meanwhile that hasn`t been updated in over a year. But I`d love to see a SS1 Editor as much as the next person. So I`m hoping work is continuing on it.
