On the off-chance you weren't being sarcastic, the Gamepig item that you can pick off of a few corpses (I think the first one is in MedSci on the smoking corpse by the second battery that you need to recharge to get into the Medical subsection) is used to play the minigames. Cartridges for these games are scattered around the ship; when you pick one up you right-click on it in the inventory to add it to the Gamepig. It's got some fun stuff on it, like Overworld Zero, Swinekeeper (a version of Minesweeper), Tic-Tac-Triop (bet you can't guess what that is), Golf, Road Hog (Frogger) and Swine Hunter (kind of like Spy Hunter). You can also hack the Gamepig to get all of the games, but you need Hack 6 for some reason.

I wasn't. I might have encountered some of them ages ago but I really don't remember playing any minigames in SS2 apart from the hacking one. :tsktsk:

Holy crap again!

Oh wow. I'm just looking through these files....checking out the physics cpp at the moment....this is incredible. This old relic somehow survived more than a decade alone in the abyss only to be welcomed home by our smiling faces now. I feel I'm about to shed a tear. Finally the pieces are back where they belong; with the people who care about them.

Just saw this and posted in ThiefGen, but figured a HOLY MOTHER OF FUCK was deserved over here too. Congratulations everyone - and ZB, I'm honestly, genuinely happy for you. :)

I find myself checking these boards every hour or so like I used to do nearly a decade ago. Can't wait to see the first big idea that comes from all this.

Not to spoil your fun, it's a miraculous find and all, but I think it will take a while before anything useful comes from this.
I tried contacting Volca who's working on the Open Dark Engine, but haven't heard from him yet.

I am torn apart right now - I had about 5 minutes of time at most to look at it and have to work, dammit!
It is fantastic, all the things we had to deduce are right there! First thing I did was looking for the portal directory, since I spent quite some time copying that part of Dark :)
There is a thread about making it work at Editor's guild, so far I had no time to try - we'll probably see a lot of effort from a lot of people in the upcoming days though :thumb:
Edit: Hmmm, the draw_surface methods really are that messy as I thought! :)
;)
Volca on 11/12/2010 at 15:44
Yep, already looking at it - a lot of work ahead!
@Kolya: Sorry that I didn't respond - there is a "thank you" at the openDarkEngine thread targeted your way.
If anyone is interested I have created a repository with patches so anyone can cooperate - work on the source code without it being public ((
http://bitbucket.org/volca/darkpatches) here).
So far I am mapping out the problems - most of them related to COM (I'm compiling on linux) and some old/now incompatible constructs.
