As someone who owns a pre-2000 Dreamcast and has all the stuff to make it work, this piques my interest no no small degree.

Uh.... someones found the source code for ss2? Is that real? Jesus F hyperdrive, that would make my fucking day!

Holy mother of fuck. Wow. I'd been wishing for this since a decade and a bit ago. Has anyone actually attempted to compile the code for the ss2 end? I'm assuming yes but that there was a zillion compilation errors from missing files etc if the code is 100% complete.
Might give it a try myself and see what happens.
[edit]
Damn. Will require some work to get working. Compiling errors as expected.

The C module for Overworld Zero is huge-- larger than any of the other modules in the SS2 folder. Based on a quick skim of the code, it's amazing how much thought and effort was put into the world generation routines.

Especially considering it was a side game that probably only a few people played. I toyed around with it a little, but never actually sat down and tried to play through the whole thing. It does have an end, doesn't it?

everything that has a beginning has an end.except for tic tac triop, that is.
Enchantermon on 10/12/2010 at 16:17
Well, even Tic-Tac-Triop has an end...either you win, Xerxes wins or neither of you win. What I meant was it's not just a world where you run around and fight monsters until you die, is it? Rather, is there an actual goal that you try to achieve and once you achieve it, the game is won?
ZylonBane on 10/12/2010 at 16:23
Holy crap, you've never finished Overworld Zero?
Enchantermon on 10/12/2010 at 16:42
No, I haven't. Every time I go into SS2, it's for the purpose of playing SS2, so I never really sat down and tried to finish Overworld Zero. It's that good, eh?

Same as, I barely played any of the minigames because SS2 itself was far more interesting.
