haha, no, not yet. That's a ways down the road. First thing I'm getting done are objects for the levels, possibly weapons as well.

IMO a solid idea would be to bust out a single level first, say Medical. The autobomb model isn't gonna do you any good if you don't get up to that point. Plus, releasing Medical as itself would get you a good amount of attention. And everyone likes to see screenshots with models ingame.
Barrel's good so far, looking forward to seeing more.

I'm waiting on my $3,200 system first, before I start on any serious level designs... and I'd like to start on another level besides Medical, everyone does that one.

Medical is the level the player starts in normally, just start developing that one instead of other levels. ;)

I'd suggest one of the groves. They're nice little self-contained levels ideal for a starter project, and the setting is perfect for showing off the capabilities of a more advanced engine. Lots of vegetation, smooth slopes, big glass dome overhead, et al.

I definitely don't want a flat roof for the groves... It's entirely reasonable to make them a curved surface that adds more realism to the level.

Yes, that's why I said "domes". All the external renders of Citadal Station even show them as domes.

That is exactly WHY I started there, its more or less a good base to begin with, but for my project, I have a surprise .. I start mapping on medical, but once I am done, you wont start on medical, I have a few nifty ideas for a totally new game altogether, that will still stick to the original plot of the game, but start you out about 2 years before the hacker incident, so more or less, the "prequel", if you will... We will just have to wait and see how it turns out.

That certainly sounds interesting, but isn't the idea of a remake to, well, remake the original?
kodan50 on 1/5/2007 at 17:16
Yes, but at the same time, to recreate the original, id have to know how to modify the engine to allow augmentations at this extreme rate, and that would be a very hard thing to do, i am only going to go as far as my experience will allow me, if I find someone who can create the needed mods with the Source engine, heck with any brush-based engine, then it shouldn't be hard to do, until then, I am going to continue the bare bone build, then make my own game in the mean time .. while waiting .. patiently .. When I am done, if no one has stepped up to do it, only then I will research it myself, it will take a long frigging time thou .. Im hoping to get more experienced people to help with this...
